I really want to play birth by sleep but I don't own a PSP, I would just buy one but the thing is that it would only be for this game. Not that it doesn't have games I'm interested in, but since I'm getting a Vita (eventually) I'll be using that for all the PSP games I want to play but because birth by sleep isn't on PSN I can't play it on the Vita.

Does anyone know a way to get it on Vita? A possible PSN release maybe?

No. Blame Disney.

I'm being absolutely serious here, they're the reason why it's not on PSN.

Buy the game, wait until someone cracks the vita, download the ISO.

Buy PSP, acquire Birth by Sleep legally, buy other games on PSN.

Could someone explain this to me? I'm not doubting it since I've heard multiple times that it's a Disney issue, but they have their games on PSN (I could go buy the PSP versions of Split/Second and Tron Evolution right now if I wanted to), so what's the deal?

Isn't it kind of crazy to have all of your story told across so many different systems? I guess they're trying to reach the largest crowd possible, but as a creator wouldn't you want your entire story available in one spot instead of spread across pretty much every non MS system of this and last generation? And even from a business perspective, wouldn't it be best if those side titles (358/2 Days, BBS) were ported to other consoles later on so that those interested could play them?

Oh, right, BBS on PSN. I believe that Nomura has said "We're working on it" in that sort-of-not-really fashion that so many industry bigwigs have used when asked questions that a direct "no" cannot be given to for fear of loss of fans.

To be fair, they did do that with Re:Coded and Re:Chain of Memories, the cell phone game and the GBA game respectively. I'm with you that it makes no sense to constantly spread your games in the series around, but at least they've done an okay job of centralizing them between two of the best-selling consoles ever.

I played 2 hours of it, and it's honestly not that great. The environments are bland and empty with lots of repetitive enemy battles. Graphics are also rather lacking.

I think the solution here would be to admit that your love of Kingdom Hearts is not worth buying a PSP for, unless you plan on getting some other titles in the process. Or you could just watch a LP on youtube if you want to see the story so bad.

@NekuSakuraba: I thought I heard the Vita was already cracked to play PSP ISOs. So if you get a Vita and it isn't on PSN then that could be an option. Alternatively, if you really don't want to buy a PSP you could steal one. I don't recommend it but it is an option.

honestly just wait for it to come out on psn (SEN i think its called now) . with the release of the vita the digital release of the game is inevitable. not to mention its a much smoother experience playing psp games on the vita because of the updated hardware. I have my vita for 5 days already and its pretty schweet with psp games, not to mention you can add bilinear filtering for the extra eye candies. oh and another neat thing is you can map the analogue stick on the right since psp games dont really use it :)

Nomura actually said in an interview that the problem was not with Disney or Square, and I believe was technical. I swear I remember reading somewhere that it had something to do with the weird install feature the game had (which isn't surprising considering how much content is in the game and how good it looks). 
 
Maybe it's for the best you don't play it though. My outlook on the gameplay for the rest of the series has been tainted after playing BBS, the combat is phenomenal and really highlights a lot of the gameplay problems with the other games. I actually played BBS shortly after the first DS one and went from kinda liking the DS one to absolutely hating it.

I think the "easiest" way would be to buy a used PSP and Birth By Sleep. Play it, and then sell the PSP and Birth By Sleep at the same price again.

I would say just don't buy it but it is actually quite a good Kingdom Hearts game - easily the best combat system the series has ever had. You could either buy a PSP for cheap (not optimal, I know) or wait and hope it appears on PSN. I guess it depends on how big a fan you are of the Kingdom Hearts series.

Don't feel too bad. I'm contemplating buying a Wii just to play Rhythm Heaven Fever and having a really hard time telling myself I shouldn't.
