The competent Super Meat Boy clone

This month's PS Plus (October 2015) seems like a cruel joke on the developers of this game. After all who would want to play a clone of Super Meat Boy when they could play the real thing? Kung Fu Rabbit isn't even trying to hide the fact it was based on SMB since all the signs point to it being a clone a few minutes in. You play as a rabbit that can jump his way through small levels that test your platforming skills in different ways. Disappearing blocks, spike traps, enemies, and fireballs the entire set of obstacles will be used to halt your progress. Unlike SMB this game gives the player plenty of extra items to make the levels easier if your having a hard time beating them. Which leads the game to feel like it is to easy especially before it switches over to the hardcore variation after you beat the 3 worlds.

This game might actually give a bit to much power to the player with the ability to place a checkpoint at any point in the level it can make a infuriating grind into a light hearted romp. Along the way you will be collecting a bunch of carrots to use said abilities but they never really give you a reason to collect them all so I gave up on them half way through. It also feels like a super short game with only 4 worlds (including 1 bonus world) that I managed to beat quickly in one day. Even the so called hardcore remixes of those levels weren't that bad. Still at it's heart it is a good skill based platformer game that you can get better at as you go along. If your in the mood for a platformer that won't make you break your vita in two this one is a reasonable choice.
