A young boy seeks to rescue his lost sister from the dreary, dangerous world of Limbo in this monochrome puzzle-platformer.
Do you think Limbo is worth $15?
XBLA Games I've paid $15 for:
Braid
Castle Crasher
Shadow Complex
They both have enough replay value (outside of achievement hunting) to warrant the price. From what I've heard Limbo caps out at around 4 hours, with no particular reason to go back other than achievements. Given that XBLM discounted last year's Summer of Arcade titles this year, I'll pick up Limbo next summer when it's a on sale. This year's Summer of Arcade games don't look nearly as good anyway. Castle V and Limbo are really the highlights.
" I don't think any XBLA or PSN game is worth $15. "Not even stuff like Wipeout HD?
Any lower for that game would be a steal.
" no, i don't think any XBLA game is worth $15. Any time I download a game over $10, I die a little inside. "Funny. I didn't know being cheap was something that could kill you. :)

For 4 dollars more I could finally order Mortal Kombat on blu-ray from Amazon, so no.
To tell you the truth I don't think I have bought any game for 15 dollars, that I felt was worth it.
This includes
- Super Street Fighter II HD Remix
- Joe Danger
- Battlefield 1943 (maybe I could make a case for this one)
- Flower
- Braid
I don't really care whether or not a game is worth "x" amount of dollars. I base it on a game to game basis, and if the game is worthy, I spend the money to play it. Price is not immediately the first thing that comes to my mind when purchasing a game, I don't like to place a dollar value on the enjoyment I get from gaming. Instead I like to consider after completing a game or playing it for a lengthy period of time, if I was satisfied with the overall time I spent, rather than "did I get my money's worth".
Absolutely. If you are unwilling to spend $15 on what might be the best 4 gaming hours of your month, you are an idiot.
If you have beat Limbo and then decided that the entertaiment you got out of it was not $5/h entertainment, then that's fine. But I dare say that the majority of the "no" voters in this thread haven't even played it and/or refuse to admit that some things can be worth $5 / hour of entertainment, including video games.
If money is tight for you, the limbo will probably seem not worth 15 bucks. I felt it wasn't worth it, but i still enjoyed the game very much.
I'm not much for the arts, so i felt like limbo was too open in its interpretation, but if you have 15 dollars to spend and you've already played braid or shadow complex then definitely check out limbo
It was probably worth a bit more like $10. I do enjoy something that more cerebraly focused, but I did think it was a hair on the short side for $15.
As we say in swedish - flaggstångsknoppspolerartrasa
Undrar om det är långt nog och "engelskt" nog för quest complete :D
Clearly it's worth it, as people are buying it in droves. Everyone know's it's a short experience when they buy it. If you don't enjoy the game, then may be you should have read more reviews and played the demo more....
However, length does not demote worth.

Edit: You should just get Little Big Planet instead"
LBP is a great game and all, but I'd rather leave it to Playdead (Limbo's developers) to create the experience. Plus no floatly jumping controls that's a +.
I believe Limbo is worth the $15 price tag. It's an amazing game. Though i do not like how $10 use to be the XBLA norm, and now its turning into $15.
After purchasing and completing the game, I will say that I felt the money spent on it was worth it for me.
However, I wouldn't fault anyone for thinking otherwise. This is really one of 2010's "Love it or Hate it" affairs.
@MKSKILLZ16: I agree, a game should be reviewed on it's own without the price being a large bullet point. How much the player enjoys the game and even how long that enjoyment lasts should be top of the chart. With full retail game never lasts at 60 dollars. Ubisoft and EA are well known for agressevly slashing prices of a game that is relevantly new.
I find it funny how different the "15 dollar" price point chances depending on the context of the game we're talking about. Some people (including myself) won't hesitate on dropping 15-20 dollars for a crappy retail game from gamestop or even drop 15 dollars on a steam sale for a game you will probably never play. But when it comes to XBLA people get up tight about the price point of a 10 dollar game versus a 15 dollar game. Puzzle Quest 2 on XBLA will give a larger chunk of gametime then most blockbuster games of today. A game needs to be reviewed on its quality as a game before the price point comes up.
My main issue with Limbo is it seems like there was some story element missing. It looks good, the platforming is alright. But would it be so hard for some type of simple cut scene at the beginning or the end to give the player something more then a fancy tech demo like a game journalist would get at a early press event when their dropped into a game already in progress?
Being told in a description outside the game that the kid is saving his sister when there really isn't any ingame evidence of this. When i played though it i really didn't understand why the kid was running right, other then it was the only way to go.
3 to 4 hours of gameplay and really no replayability in my eyes, the game seems more like a 10 dollar game, maybe even less. there are games on the indy arcade or steam that has better concepts they just don't look as good.
I suggest PB Winterbottom
But Limbo is amazing :( I thought Limbo was better than Braid, except for the ending. But I agree that 15 is a lot for a short game, but I am sure it will be discounted eventually.
