Magic Ball Review
Magic Ball is a PlayStation Network game in which you will be playing a version of brick in 3D. If you are unfamiliar with Brick it is a game in which you will be using a paddle to break bricks, but this time around you're going to be breaking objects that lie within the current level.
The graphics look good. The camera angle is a bit odd and there are times where you're going to lose sight of the ball. Speaking of ball the choice of a soccer ball I find quite bizarre. The level themes are creative, but you'll see too much of them, and get tired of them by the time the theme changes.
The controls are really simplistic, just like they should be. You're going to use the X button and then left to right. My only qualm is that I wished when you have the ability to shoot that it is a different button from the one used to relaunch the ball.
I'd love to make mention of the sounds and music, but to be honest its not memorable. So that's that.
This game contains a ton of levels, though there are going to be times where it feels like they just made another level to try to extend that theme, or the game in general. Overall the power ups or downs depending what they are seem to fit the game perfectly. My only qualm with them is that the wall power up, the one with the rope that will block a missed ball once is on a timer. I feel that this would be a ton more useful if it stuck around until it was actually needed. The other thing with this game is that there are times where the first time you see certain types of collide-able objects you might not see them as collide-able until the ball bounces off them and then pass your paddle. There are also some almost indestructable objects that you're not aware of until they, once again, bounce right back at you and pass your paddle.
There are some problems with this game, but overall this is a game that I can see myself coming back to when I want to play something for a bit. The best feature in this game is if you lose all your balls on a level, you can retry the level with the amount of lives you had coming into it, and you get to keep your score. This game gets an 8.0 out of 10.
