After a violent death by an unknown force and a timely reanimation by the human supremacist organization Cerberus, Commander Shepard must assemble a new squad in the seedier side of the galaxy for a suicide mission in the second installment of the "Mass Effect" trilogy.
Ugh....I cannot stand male Shepards voice at all. He seems like he is rushing to get the words out of his mouth. Also it seems too high pitched for the main look atleast.
Hale, although at first I played ME1 and ME2 as a male Shepard. Tried to play both games with a fem shepard and the difference was staggering (especially in ME2).
Jennifer Hale. She sounds more natural than Mark Meer, who isn't bad, but he doesn't have a charismatic voice like she does. For example, on Omega, when you're recruting Garrus, she sounds genuinely scared for him when he's lying down on the floor, bleeding. In my opinion, she's my ultimate Shepard.
Also, on Tali's loyalty quest. I chose the persuade option, because my Paragon score was high enough, and she belt out a very passionate speech on Tali's defense. That was some powerful acting she did.
Yeah, I find that Hale is trying too hard to sound tough and rugged, and fails horribly at it. I love Hale in other games though. She was fantastic as Bastila.
I like them both equally, but I think the game was written around a male shepard. This doesn't become too obvious too often but there are times when it just makes more sense... and that's fine. The canon Shepard is male.
I've just split up my games. My male shepard goes renegade, and female goes paragon.
Played as both, I prefer Meer. Hale has a strange, low, breathy style that confuses me. Is she trying to act sexy or does she need an oxygen tank? I sound harsh there, I like Hale...but there are moments I miss the smarmy snide ass remarks male shep makes.
