It’s official: the final bit of Mass Effect 2 DLC, “Arrival” is a real and true paid add-on for the lauded sci-fi RPG. Publisher EA confirmed Arrival this morning, announcing that it’ll be available this March 29 across the PC, Xbox 360 and PSN. It’ll retail for the price of 560 Moon Dollars across the former two platforms and 7 dollars in Earth currency on PSN.

Did the rumors happen to peg what you’ll be doing in Arrival? Maybe. This morning’s press release teases that Arrival will take Shepard to the “edge of the galaxy” in order to aid an operative who has evidence of an impending Reaper invasion. Leaks suggest that you’ll be travelling to the Viper Nebula and meeting up with the Batarian Hegemony, an organization that has beef with the Alliance.

== TEASER ==Admiral Hackett, voiced by Alien's Lance Henriksen, will play a “prominent role” in Arrival, which appears on paper, at least, to be that long-awaited bridge content that will seek to connect the events of Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3

“Mass Effect: Arrival is an exciting extension to Mass Effect 2 and will show players just how close the Reapers are to returning and completing their deadly harvest,” Mass Effect lead producer Casey Hudson said in a written statement.

A few new images have appeared since our update yesterday, two of which are from today’s reveal. The third image, just below, is another teaser that BioWare pushed out after receiving the impressions it needed from the second Arrival image.

Needless to say, but I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl about Arrival. Will you be checking it out, too?

Hackett looks eerily similar to Zaeed. Weird.

Gotta get this and Kasumi so I can finally S rank this bitch.

Admiral Hackett makes an appearance?! I was set on buying the DLC when it had the name "Mass Effect 2" on it, they don't need to buy me dinner. lol

Can't wait!

#15 Posted by Flap_jackson (90 posts) -

Ah man. You mean this isn't The Arrival with Charlie Sheen?

Even with a lack of Tiger Blood, I will play this as soon as possible because dude, it's Mass Effect.

#16 Posted by rethla (410 posts) -

Will Dragon age bloodsplatter be introduced?

#17 Posted by PhatSeeJay (3322 posts) -

HI HACKETT! It's nice to see you!

#18 Posted by Dtat (1623 posts) -

I hope this is something you can't do until you've beaten the game. There's a lot more they could do with the story if that's the case.

What's up with Hackett's face?

#21 Posted by Lukeweizer (2586 posts) -

The lead producer says it's "Exciting"! And marketing people never lie about their product!

Oh god, I thought I had at least a few months before this DLC came out. I have one more play through I wanted to get in. Better get crackin'. This and DA2 is almost a Bioware overdose. Who am I kidding, that's impossible.

Also, Hackett looks like a crotchety old man. Awesome.

#23 Edited by Daveyo520 (6651 posts) -

That is not what I thought Hackett would look like. He looks a lot like Presley.

#24 Posted by MisterMouse (3539 posts) -

oh man that is at the end of this month... in 11 days!

#25 Posted by TripMasterMunky (2403 posts) -

I'll wait until ME3 comes closer, then do my 2nd EVERYTHING playthrough of ME2.

#26 Posted by pekoe212 (428 posts) -

Good thing I just started ME2 this week. And I like Admiral Hackett, I was missing his voice telling me what to do every time i entered a new system.

#27 Posted by alternate (2679 posts) -

Damn, I just uninstalled ME2 from my PC as It thought this would not be out until after summer.

Where's that shut up and take my money jpeg when you need it. I must have this!

I... despise this writing. Fuck.

#30 Posted by Yzzerdd (521 posts) -

60 minutes of corridor shooting and the reward is a boring email in ME3.

#31 Posted by ptys (1868 posts) -

Wow, so close. Almost like an Apple announcement. Less hype more delivery thanks game industry!

#32 Posted by gosukiller (2324 posts) -

Admiral Hackett looks more like an evil Pressly.

They should ressurect Pressly like they did with Shepard and have him be the main villain of ME3.

#33 Posted by Vaile (355 posts) -

And it comes out in a week? Dear God, BioWare, talk about redemption.

Funny how yesterday I was wondering how close to Autumn this would be released.

#34 Posted by Zabant (1231 posts) -

i downloaded the other DLC when it was on special offer and still have not jumped back in to that game.

I will get this when it comes out and that will the the catalyst of me actually playing again. I want to be able to remember the story in prep for 3, something that is hard to do when you play the game at release and the sequel is 2 years later.

#35 Posted by xyzygy (9868 posts) -

Admiral Hackett, he was the one who always talked to you through the intercom in ME1 right? I remember his voice plain as day.

He looks a little worse, if you ask me. Almost as if this model was an early version of Zaeed.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeees!

#38 Posted by AuthenticM (3695 posts) -

Is this Hackett? Man, I'm a little disappointed in his look. I always pictured him as a tough ex-veteran soldier like the bad dude in Avatar. He needs more gruff and edge.

Hey look everybody, it's some grey-blue metallic labs, awash in brownish light.

I mean, I have faith in Bioware, but god dammit

Day 1 purchase for me. Don't need much convincing to buy anything Mass Effect related.

That's not what I pictured Hackett to look like, though. He looks like a mix between Presley and Zaeed. It works well enough, I suppose.

#41 Posted by DeadDorf (388 posts) -

Hell yes! I hardly ever purchase DLC, but I've bought all of the missions for ME2. Amazing game.

#42 Posted by Malakhii (1443 posts) -

I guess I know when I'll start my second run of ME2.

#43 Posted by yoshimitz707 (2450 posts) -

Well, considering I've played through ME2 3 times and sold it. No, I'm not looking forward to this.

#44 Posted by PatVB (328 posts) -

I'm super excited for this! And Brad, thank you for at least apologizing for an "arrival" pun. No other publications acknowledged the terribleness of doing so.

#45 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11419 posts) -

Awesome. Now we can finally meet Hackett in person, as opposed to the voice that told you when there was a new sidequest every time you entered a new system.

I'm assuming you want it because your a 360 player. The motion comic is just a recap of Mass Effect 1, a very poor one at that, so your not missing much. If anyone is missing anything it's PS3 players as 360 and PC players can actually play the original game and experience the story first hand.

Nope, PC player. I want it so I can do 5 or 6 more playthroughs of ME2 with different ME1 backstories without having to play through ME1 again. Don't get me wrong, ME1 is a great game, but I really didn't like the shooting and I've already seen that story through to the end four times. My hope is to have about 12 complete ME2 playthroughs by the time ME3 comes out.
