I know the game isn't out just yet so I guess theres an embargo. Just wondering if anyone has heard any of the staff saying when the QL will be. I know everyone is excited for Metal Gear Scanlon, but I just want to see what the game is like, the reviews have me tempted.

I'd imagine a QL will be up by Friday. Gives them time to unpack from PAX and find an area where they want to show off.

I was under the impression that only people who went to the Konami review event got early access to the game, and they didn't even get copies to keep. They certainly didn't get PC codes yet, either. As far as I know, no one has.

They will more than likely have one on monday or tuesday, but pax may get in the way so maybe later next week

You don't have to wait for a quick look, you can just watch the handful of hour long gameplay demos Konami pushed out the past two E3's.

The video embargo would be until the launch day, September 1st, so we need to wait.

I dunno. Greg Miller sure made it sound like in his review that he has a copy of the game.

We're aiming to have a QL up first thing Tuesday (the earliest we can post video), barring any unforeseen catastrophes.

Damn it! all the best catastrophe's deserve to be seen.

@demoskinos: In his review he talks a whole lot about how he was at Konami playing the game for a full week.

@elwoodan: I know but he also mentions that he is going to finish the review then go right back to playing it.

On the Bombcast Jason mentioned coming back Monday instead of Tuesday from Pax so they could be back for the release. I'm guessing it won't go up until at least Wednesday so they have time to get deep into it. I do hope it's a Dan/Drew quick look though. I mean, how could it not be at this point?

Given that Dan and Drew are playing through it relatively soon for Metal Gear Scanlon, I'd prefer a Jeff and Brad QL

@jay_ray: Are they doing that for sure? It seemed like they were floating the idea of recording it and releasing it later, but they never committed to it. Some of the logistics seem kind of iffy too. Either Dan will have to watch Drew play it not having played it himself, or Drew will have to wait a few days for Dan to play through it. Neither option seems like the best experience for either of them.

Unless they double up like the Deadly Premonition runs. Drew and Brad / Dan and Jeff. That seems like a waste, though. Playing through new titles to completion just isn't this site's style, though. Its not under the radar like Contradiction or Deadly Premonition.

Seeing how Drew is going to play this game for the site, and given all the footage out now, do you really need to post a QL?

@deanoxd: I think so. Plenty of people, including myself, highly value Giant Bomb's opinions on games. While I'm already all in on Phantom Pain, I'm sure there are others waiting for a quick look to help influence their buying decision. Metal Gear Scanlon could fufill that purpose as well, but plenty of those people would not want to have to be spoiled in order to get Giant Bomb's opinion. In a quick look they'll be much more likely to avoid spoilers.

Metal Gear Scanlon is premium, a QL is regular content.

@genericbrotagonist: I see lots of people wondering this but I don't see how you guys think Drew playing 3-4 hours a week max is going to keep up with Dan who will likely binge through the entire game launch week, based on his previous statements. This also addresses the issue of people not wanting to watch based on spoilers, the story missions are clearly marked and obvious so if that's not one you've played just wait on that episode
