New real MGS is awesome news, was just hoping they'd go with a clean slate of new characters.

Here's to hoping they can make a good game around the exsisting characters if it is a new Big Boss episode, which from that awesome picture I'd assume is what they're aiming for.

My MGS4 trophies say otherwise.

As long as it's Snake I'm happy. People are blowing their wad for Revengence because it's Raiden and how decently cool he was in MGS4, but they oh so quickly forget that Raiden was by far and away the worst thing about MGS2. I mean him running around bare-assed and the homosexual undertones about his character had me expecting him to drop to his knees and suck the nearest cock at any moment.

Actually this is probably going to be about Big Boss and the split from Zero. Which is fine. Let Solid Snake die with his birth. There's nothing else for that character anymore, but Big Boss and even The Boss/The Cobra Unit could have some cool stories to tell.

That said the story will be convoluted, they always are, and there's no reason to get excited for this thing yet. A few tweets don't excite me. Seeing actual gameplay footage and some of the things they're doing will. Far as I'm concerned they just need to import gameplay elements of MGS3 to make it good and not go to nuts. But they'll end up going nuts. It's Japan. They don't really know subtlety in game design.

I almost 100% agree, except there is talk of a portable music player in the demo which seems a little anachronistic . Probably worth reading this article from gamespot where they describe the demo, though I agree, the MSF logo and eye patch is almost too much for it to be anyone else.

OK, guys, think of it this way. Every single MGS game is TOTALLY NUTS. Every one in a continuity has to contend with all that insanity, plus add its own. The only way they can possibly add another game's worth of insanity to Snake's story is if they get someone with a breathtaking capacity for highly structured nonsense.

Just finished MGS4. (I had it for 4 years) Loved it! Looking foward to this one.

@Benny: MGS3 has invincibility and magic invisible long-range radios in the 60s, this seems like it's gonna take place in the 70s-80s, I don't think you should worry about anything being anachronistic in MGS.

Needs more questions.

Hopefully he applies the gameplay and narrative lessons he learned on Peace Walker here. Don't know about the name though.

Sounds good but of course we will need to see it. I hope it's not a continuation of Solid Snake and instead a prequel or Big Boss; MGS4 should be the end of his tale.

I'm always down for more Metal Gear - and if the gameplay works out to be different again from the previous installations, that's fine, as long as Kojima's madness is still woven through the heart of the story.

I hope Ironside is voicing Snake.

Personally, I'd take Metal Gear Ac!d 3 first, but whatever.

MGS4 is the best of the series. I love them all though, which also means I'm excited by this news. More Metal Gear!!

MGS4 was running on a modified MGS3 engine, there were lot of noticeable signs in the graphics, but hey, that's how you have to make it coming from one generation to another. Good to see that this Fox Engine will be a step up for japanese developers.

But yeah, bring on some old dudes stabbing one another with needles in the neck.
