The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
The M40A3 is much superior, due to the fact that it has less recoil from what I remember. Plus, the Intervention is just a retextured R700 with an extra round in the magazine. Multipliers etc. are identical to the R700.
I picked the Intervention, but only because I tend to use it more - which is to say, almost not at all. I just don't really like sniping that much. It's probably because most maps I play on are small to medium compared to the bigger ones, but it always feels like I can do just as well with a FAMAS. I definitely have to play some more big maps to try out all the long range weapons.
I think I'm gonna have to go with the M40A3. I've had problems with the Intervention, such as it taking 2-3 shots to the chest to kill someone. I don't think I've ever had an issue with the M40
The M40A3 can double as a medium-range assault rifle when equipped with an ACOG scope, and that is a direct result of it having far less recoil than the other snipers.
If you're playing on Hardcore, you really can't go wrong with any of the sniper rifles, though.
My gripe with the M40A3 is the green skin on the sniper rifle; I used the R700 back in COD4 (which admittedly was the worst sniper rifle because the sway acts as if you were drunk).
really though m40a3 just felt smoother, also with acog and stopping power is a golden gun which was nice. I have started to play with the intervention though and its fairly good, unlike the other rifles is actually not bad with acog.
