Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Game » consists of 22 releases. Released Nov 10, 2009
The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
This is one of the stupidest things I've ever read
I'm not just talking about the article, which is really stupid too, but mostly just the first sentence.
" Call of Duty: MW2 is arguably one of the most realistic combat simulators available."
Seriously somebody actually put wrote that down and meant it. MW2 in no way tries to be any kind of realistic, and calling it a sim is probably one of the dumbest things I've seen this year. I don't mean that in any kind of negative way to the game either, I don't want MW2 to be a sim.
Then they get some soldier, or at least that's what they claim he is, to tell you valuable information about things that are wrong with the combat sim Modern Warfar 2. For instance, did you guys know helicopter crashes are dangerous? Yeah, luckily we've got this trained army soldier to let us know that, because just last week me and my friends were thinking about going and getting in a helicopter crash because it sounded fun. Needless to say after this article we may have to change are plans.
People need to learn that it is okay for a game or movie to be unrealistic and over the top. Today it seems like if a game or movie, isn't just like real life, then it is stupid. And I'm sorry to say, even the most realistic first person sim is not even close to what real life is like. A soldier doesn't constantly run around with his gun pointed straight out, an enemy will probably actually hear you sneaking up on them, and no matter how many times you see it in a game you most definitely will not be able to walk through grass and bushes like they aren't even there.
Okay I'm done.
In Modern Warfare 2 you can:
- Jump out of two stories buildings and live
- Absorb several bullets and live
- Reload in less than 2 seconds
- Regenerate health, no matter how severe the wound
Yep, definitely realistic.
Apparently whoever interviewed the "soldier" didn't actually read what he said. Modern Warfare 2 is far from realistic. Stupid article.
Someone should make a 100% realistic FPS game. It wouldn't be remotely fun but at least it would stop people from referring to MW as realistic by comparison.
Why would someone working at a video game website think that an article like that would qualify as news?
EDIT: This is what a realistic Call of Duty game would be like.
@natetodamax:
And kill people with a throwing knife 2 buildings away. Don't forget about ordering tactical nukes on the fly, too.
Killzone 2 with red-eyed dudes in gas masks gives a more realistic representation of combat than Modern Warfare 2. And you heal dudes with microphones and shoot people with lightning in there.
Also: you can shoot down UAVs.
Well, there is no denying that tt is arguably one of the most realistic combat simulators available. You'd just have to have a special need in order to actually argue the point.
" In Modern Warfare 2 you can:Only if you are Arnie or Bruce "John" Willis.
Yep, definitely realistic. "

" @HandsomeDead: Calling Modern Warfare 2 a simulator is ridiculous. Example:I think you're wrong, I bet according to the solder in the story that in basic training they teach you how to go into slow motion so you can take out a bunch of enemies who have you outnumbered."(In the snow storm mission early in the game) Two people taking out an entire base somewhere in the mountains in Russia. When you reach the building and plant the bombs and MacTavish is compromised and is facing 20+ soldiers, you go into slow motion and kill them all. Then you run out into the open with even more soldiers shooting at you, but you magically survive and suddenly you're in a snow mobile chase with several dozens of other enemy snowmobiles chasing after you. But of course, you manage to shake them off and go down a perfectly shaped skiing slope with a ramp on the end and jump over an enormous gap with your snowmobile and safely exit in a helicopter.

All credibility out of the window.
lol, I didn't even notice that. Apparently they don't proofread their articles because spell check isn't going to pick that up. Although, after reading this I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know how to read.
I can imagine them pacing back and forth in a smoke filled office with their coat hung over their shoulder, and a drink in the other hand, dictating to some young secretary on a typewriter.
Unrealistic? Lies. Whenever I get shot I just walk it off for about 20 seconds. After that I'm good to sprint around again.

And sorry, but if a typo is the stupidest thing you've ever seen, you need to get out more.
