Ok so i havent played this since before christmas due to my LIVE account running out and all that. Now about to get into it again. What i want to know is, is it worth getting a mic for? i mean, do people actually communicate or what? From what i remember there wasnt much communication at all. Has this changed much?

I busted out my mic recently for MW2. For the most part, there was nothing.  I played what must have been ten matches and the only thing I heard anyone say was 'fucking gay team is fucking camping'. I then put my mic back in the drawer.

If you like smack talking other people then yes. Otherwise, don't really bother.

nope, but if you play with friends it's a lot better if you can, you know, talk. If it's just you and a bunch of randoms, then no, don't do it. All you'll hear is prepubescent whining, complaints about the game, and racism.

If you do play with your friends, I recommend Ground War because you can use party chat and don't have to listen to the above.

Well most strangers on Xbox Live are really retarded 15 year old's who can only use irrelevant discriminating slurs and are very very angry and deserve to be spanked and sent to bed without supper.
On the other hand when I was younger I made about 93 friends playing Gears of War who weren't dicks at all. But that was before it was as popular as today.
Summarising, If you can put up with the dicks and have the balls to start a conversation with people on the net, it can be a good experience.

If you have a group to play with it's worth it, if not, no.

The people I play with have the most minimal of tactics as the opposition don't use any, it's normally a win.

If you have friends or play a lot of Search and Destroy, then yes. Otherwise no. It's not worth the amount of prepubescents screaming curses and racial slurs like it was the rouge warrior quick look or something.
