I have not seen a story mode for any other fighting game as good, as challenging, as in depth as this.  Stunning.

The story mode runs 16 chapters detailing events from MK1-MK3 through certain character's perspectives.  But things get altered a bit because Raiden from the past is receiving visions from Raiden of the future to try and prevent Armageddon from happening.  It explains so much, how Kabal becomes scarred, how Jax gets his cybernetic arms, how the Lin Kuei become cyborgs...it also details the events that Raiden tries to alter, but because of his actions of changing the past, he also changes the future...in preventing Smoke from becoming a cyborg, he fails to prevent Sub Zero from becoming a Cyborg....its so good, easily the best mode of the game for me.

so you're forced to play as all the different characters in one long story? Or you play through ladders like most other games?

So is it older or younger brother Sub-zero who is turned into a cyborg? And is a normal ninja younger Sub-zero in the game at all? Like an alternate costume or something at least?

If you overlook the biggest plot hole of all time that requires a childlike sense of suspension of disbelief, which is the question "Why don't you FINISH HIM/HER?!" the story is built quite well. The way it sets up for a sequel could have  been done way worse than how they handled it; I'm not complaining. I mean you should have gone into it knowing the whole thing sets up for a sequel.. What is Netherrealm's next game going to be- Shaolin Monks II? Nope.

But if he's not canon, i would be mad, cause why the heck do you have a story mode that is not canon??? and then i would be happy because i think cyber sub zero sucks, sektor and cyrax are the only robots in MK we need lol
