A great new take on racing games but a little short on content
I dislike Pacific Rift for it's insane difficulty. The AI were practically cheating, however it's visuals and rewarding feel of winning kept me playing, but after a week or two, I put my controller down. The AI, combined with the punishing difficulty got to me. When I saw previews for Motorstorm: Apocalypse, I was skeptical at first, but then eventually realised it had a similar treatment as Killzone 3: the controls, visuals and challenge was vastly improved. The visuals didn't have a great change in Apocalypse, but there were a few notable tweaks. The controls were very responsive this time around; eg vehicles would immediately turn in the direction you pushed the left stick, and the drift was realistic. The difficulty was much improved in this installment as well, races started out easy and gradually got harder. I haven't, however, played online unfourtunately. The only real negative point in this game is that the features and tracks in this game feel limited. The developers focused on the tracks and their crumbling environments (which was absolutely stunning, by the way) and didn't focus on other tracks which is okay, but I would have preferred a little more variety. the story was adequate, but it was impressive for a racing game. Like I said before the environment was amazing. This game has it's subtitle for a reason, you know. This city has gone to hell. explosions are everywhere, rubble and destroyed buildings act act your racing ground and I personally love it. It's a great new take on off road racing. This feels like a car action movie, and it's meant to be like that. I love it. I give this game a great 4/5
