Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja storm 2 Review
Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja storm 2 is the sequel to Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. The game itself is a fighter, and rely on the same fighting system used in the first game. The story spans much more of the manga than first expected, that is a plus for fans. In fact, the psp is the only other console that has a Naruto game with a story that spans as far. The story in the game is basicly the same as in the manga, with a few tweaks, but they dont really do that much. Just like the first game, this game features cinematic God of War like button sequences, wich was a highlight in the first game, sadly there were only few of them. Luckily Storm 2 corrects this, with over 5 of them, compared to Storm 1's 3, and there isnt as far between them, as in Storm 1. Sadly, a lot of the game involves just walking around. It would be much nicer, to just go from one fight, to the next one. There is also one fight, where a cinematic button suquence was expected, but wasnt there, that was a bit of a let down, as it could easily have been done.
The fighting system, is as said, excactly the same as in the first game, and it comes with all the shortcomings of the first one too, they could at least have corrected the few mistakes that the fighting system has. It is not a very deep fighter, as all of the combos rely solely on the circle button, and left analog stick. Each fighter has a jutsu, and an ultimate jutsu. Sadly, the ultimate jutu's arent as cool as in the first one. to do these jutsu's you need a certain amount of "chakra" wich can be gained by holding down the triangle button.
The visuals are amazing, and certainly this is the best looking anime based game EVER, and the cinematics look so good, you will get a heart attack. The problem with the first one was that after you have completed the story, the game lost its replay value, and so many didn't touch the game after that. This would also have been the case for this game, had it not been for the online mode, wich attracts not only fans, but also veteran online gamers.
In fact, the online mode provides all the replay value, and is very addicting, and many have had thousands of battles online. After you have completed the story, the CPU on super hard (the hardest difficult setting) will most likely be so easy, online mode is the only place to find a challenge, and you need to be good if you want to reach the top ten online. When all is said and done, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja storm 2 is the best Naruto game to date, and easily outshines any other anime game on the market. The combat lacks depht, wich means that you will have to go online if you want fun after you have completed the story. The story is great, and the good visuals add to the experience. I give Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja storm 2, 4.5 out of 5 stars.
