Character History
Marcus Johnson was a character that was introduced in the Marvel comics 2012 mini-series Battle Scars. Johnson was a military man, serving on duty in the Middle East, when he got word that his mother had been murdered. After returning home, he was attacked by the Russian assassins that had killed her, as well as the mercenary Taskmaster. Taken in by S.H.I.E.L.D. for medical treatment, he felt that he was being held against his will and escaped.
After escaping, he was targeted by many others, including the Serpent Society and Deadpool. He met Nick Fury, who as it turns out, was his father; everyone was after Marcus due to his blood holding properties identical to the serum flowing through Fury's veins, which he inherited. During these incidents, Marcus, like Nick, ended up losing an eye.
After Johnson, Fury, and Johnson's best friend, Cheese (revealed to be Agent Phil Coulson) saved the day and defeated the mercenaries, Fury went into indefinite hiding. Taking his birth name of Nicholas Joseph Fury, Jr., Johnson later joined S.H.I.E.L.D.
In Video Games
In Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign, what appeared to be the Ultimate/Cinematic universe Nick Fury appeared as an NPC, despite the fact that the 616 Fury was the one who existed during the Dark Reign story arc. However, upon becoming unlockable for play, this version of Fury is revealed to be Nick, Jr. (even though like Ultimate/Cinematic Fury, he was not around during these events in the comic). His character model does still dress like Ultimate/Cinematic Fury, with a trenchcoat instead of Steve Rogers' jumpsuit.
