The Dark Spire
The Dark Spire™ is a first-person RPG of exploration and character development in the purest sense. Parties will be assembled, stats will be rolled, items, weapons and armour shall be equipped, and monsters will be slain. Some adventurers will choose to play using the “modern” interface, its bold, stylised textures and palettes delivering a fresh, up-to-date adventure. Others may opt for the “classic” mode, guaranteed to evoke overwhelming sensations of nostalgia as it perfectly recreates the style and simplicity of the fathers of the genre. Two different presentation modes, two different ways to experience The Dark Spire!
· Homage to classic RPGs — Take back the age of the great classic RPGs where you build your perfect party from the ground up. Shrewd strategy is required to navigate tough dungeon floors with limited resources, earning experience by taking on 80 different enemies out to end you.
· Dual dungeon modes — The traditional RPG experience is fully realized in Classic Mode, which offers a black-and-white wireframe dungeon environment reminiscent of the nostalgic PC RPGs. Switch back to Modern Mode to update to the full 3-D atmosphere of the Dark Spire.
· A captivating story of mist and shadow — A second person narrative reaches out from the game to speak to you of codpieces and killer rabbits, enveloping the gamer in an unforgettable adventure that offers three possible endings.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings
Step into the shoes of the legendary hero, Indiana Jones, in an all new epic adventure! Set in the year 1939, Indiana Jones® and the Staff of Kings™ follows the rogue archaeologist on an all-new globe-trotting quest.
From San Francisco's Chinatown to the lush jungles of Panama, Indy must use his whip, fists and wits to fight through ruthless opposition as he spars with his nemesis, Magnus Völler, in a race for a relic of biblical proportions — the Staff of Moses.
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings features completely interactive environments, where players need to call upon their wits and daring to make each spring-loaded environment a weapon in order to dispense of foes in clever and unexpected ways. Also, embark upon thrilling action sequences that remain true to the spirit established in scenes such as Indy's pursuit of the motorcade in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the mine-cart scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the free-for-all aboard the tank in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
· On the Nintendo DS, use the stylus as the whip to swing over pits, brawl with enemies and to explore the world
· Explore exotic locations around the globe in an all-new story that puts you on an epic quest for the Staff of Moses
· Engage in burst gunplay moments and use careful aim and the environment to take out enemies
· Face overwhelming odds and escape signature run-for-your-life moments, like a daring escape from a collapsing temple, by matching fast-paced onscreen gesture prompts
· Experience thrilling chases and control vehicles — fly a biplane in a canyon trench, take the reigns of a wild elephant through the streets of Istanbul and navigate a raft down a raging river
· Cooperative gameplay mode allows you and a friend to brave the challenges in a variety of game modes in an entirely new quest with a familiar character never playable before in an Indy game
· Unlock four-player versus mode where you and your friends go head-to-head in a real biplane combat or take on three of your friends in a free for all tank battle!
Overlord: Minions
In Overlord Minions, the Overlord commands the Minion team remotely. The Nintendo DS stylus becomes an extension of his evil will and every precise Touch Screen command is the player-as-Overlord directing, commanding and combining minions in battle, pointing and sweeping them to attack enemies and solving puzzles to execute his dastardly plans.
Controlling the Special Farces team of four, players negotiate fiendish levels and take on a huge range of warped enemies to hunt down the Kindred, a cult dedicated to resurrecting the mighty Dragon Kin, a race of humanoid dragon hybrids, determined to replace the Overlord's despotism with their own. Extending the Overlord series' trademark humour, gameplay focuses on the mischievous physical comedy of the minion's antics and is delivered in a stylised cartoon visual style.
EDIT: Missed a big one - consider this as P - the doubled up Indiana..
Oh man, I am such a dick - first i forget Knights in Nightmare, then I tell you to vote other and there isn't one :-( I repeat, I am a dick.
Knights in Knightmare
Certain to be one of the most innovative titles of 2009, Knights in the Nightmare is wholly unique. Not easily placed in any one genre, the game requires players to throw out everything they know about roleplaying and strategy games and embrace something altogether new and fresh. Frantic, energetic action mixes with thoughtprovoking tactical gameplay, all within a beautifully-rendered fantasy setting and presented through a captivating, emotional narrative. Dripping with style and originality, Knights in the Nightmare delivers an unforgettable experience.

I haven't had a handheld since the original Game Boy Advanced. But the DSi is looking pretty tempting; I don't know if I can resist it! =/

Hm. Tough choices. There are a lot of games there that I want to get, but I can't possibly buy all of them. :(

Phantom Hourglass is both Hourglass and interesting. Not to mention the DSi Ware's possible ability to download old Game Boy games. I want to play Dragon Warrior Monsters...! Er!
"Oh man, Definately Rhythm Heaven, Infinite Space (can't resist Platinum Games/Clover Studios) and Shin Megami Tensei, and maybe that Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled."Same games for me, plus The Dark Spire sounds like it could interesting, Suoer Robot Taisen looks awesome (probably my second choice after Sin Megami) and Dokopon Journey has that Japanese cute factor going for it.
Out of all the titles you listed, none of them seem to interest me =/
I still need to play some oldies though, such as: Fire Emblem DS, FFIV, Pokemon Platinum (maybe), Castlevania: PoR and maybe OoE.
of that list? nothing
i'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into pokemon platinum.
2 weeks in the back of a car with nothing but My DS and an ipod shall certainly be interesting
Dragon Quest IX -- Will pre-order the Japanese version
SRT OG Saga Endless Frontier -- Will pre-order
Black Sigil -- Will wait for reviews and buy ASAP if it looks like I'll enjoy it
SMT Devil Survivor -- Will wait for reviews and buy ASAP if it looks like I'll enjoy it
The Dark Spire -- Will wait for reviews and buy ASAP if it looks like I'll enjoy it
Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times -- Will have to see what this is all about. It looks very similar to Animal Crossing and I've always wanted to play one of those games, so maybe I'll pick up this instead.
Broken Sword -- Will get later down the line (this game came out this month, though -- not next month)
Rhythm Heaven -- Will get someday if it's cheap
That's all I'm interested in. Looks like the upcoming months could get quite expensive.
"Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days -- Will pre-order the Japanese versionYou must be pretty good with your Japanese. I frankly can't wait for Dragon Quest IX, though i could give two farts about Kingdom Hearts. Make sure you look out for Sands of Destruction later this year.

"You must be pretty good with your Japanese. I frankly can't wait for Dragon Quest IX, though i could give two farts about Kingdom Hearts. Make sure you look out for Sands of Destruction later this year."DQ9 doesn't require that much Japanese since it uses furigana (which makes it a must-have for any RPG fan studying the language; I can't think of any other games that use them).
Take a few hours to learn hiragana/katakana and watch subbed anime for a few years and you'll probably do fine. :P Besides, DQ isn't exactly the most narrative-driven RPG series out there anyway. My Japanese reading speed is pretty slow, so I'll probably skip the dialogue whenever I feel it isn't important.
Not sure if I'll be getting Sands of Destruction, though... I don't really care about any of the people that worked on it (which seems to be the main draw of the game), and it wasn't even that well received in Japan IIRC. I also happen to belong to the niche of JRPG gamers who value gameplay over story, and considering the scenario writer on the game, I would think this does not. I do have some interest in it though, so we'll see...

Now that March has passed, there's only one or two DS games that I know of coming this year that I'm anticipating. With that said, however, Rhythm Heaven is one of my personal top games at the moment that I'm looking forward to for any console, so I choose that one.
"Axersia said:I keep trying the Japanese thing, but I don't get far. I was able to work pretty far into A.S.H. Archaic Sealed Heat despite it being very text heavy and it was awesome, but really, I would love to know what the hell is actually going on. Making up my own story can be fun though :-) Death Note was a complete right off. Metroid Pinball was nice and easy as were the Ouendan games. I will still buy a good Japanese game when cheap though - more incentive to learn the language."AgentJ said:For me, one of the biggest draws of the game is the art style, but i'm definately interested in the story and what i've heard of the gameplay has been good."You must be pretty good with your Japanese. Thats my only import though"
I'm actually gonna go with Chrono Trigger. I know it's already out, but I'm going to buy it around those months for a vacation I'm going on.
"It's SMT: Devil Survivor without a doubt for moi. It's honestly one of the games I'm most looking forward to for this entire year...out of all consoles! I'm also really looking forward to Knights in the Nightmare, which happens to not be in your little poll."Holy crap Kush - you are right and I don't know how I missed that. Atlus is my favourite games company at the moment (with Nintendo and Square Enix). I somehow went straight past it. I kind of fixed it - better late than never :-(
Yea...Atlus is by far my favorite JAP developer and I basically buy anything and everything they come out with...I have 5 games pre-ordered right now. How many are Atlus games? ...Hmmm, I'll have to say that 5 out of 5 are Atlus games. They just love giving pre-order bonuses and they treat their fans better than pretty much all other companies out there. I love my Atlus and love supporting them in any way that I can.
I didn't end up picking up Legacy of Y's: Books I & II after hearing it was a bit buggy all around, but I may still pick it up at a later date...my current Atlus love right now is the Prinny game on PSP. That game is fantastic, but anyone who hates those "brutal difficulty" games like the old Mega Man games (etc) will certainly hate that game. I'm still waiting to see what pre-order bonus they give with SMT: Devil Survivor...I would be very shocked if that game doesn't get some kind of announcement of a bonus prior to release.
"OLD SCHOOL! HOW DID YOU MISS KNIGHTS?!?!? Kush, I'm assuming you played the other two games in the Knights in the Knightmare series, Yggdra Union and Riviera right? Also, since you have so many Atlus games, you must have Y's books 1 and 2. How is it?"Yeah - stupid me. Then I suggested a fix that was wrong. Sucks to be me right now!
"I havent really been keeping track. I dont use my DS a lot. All I am really looking forward to is an eventual new Professor Layton release but a couple of those you have listed sound very interesting. Particularly Dark Spire and Knights in Knightmare. "RPGs always seem to be the games most anticpated by gamers. Easy to see why, they usually review well and tend to be deep, long games with interesting storylines that represent value for money.
Even though I don't really have the money to spend on games, I ended up pre-ordering two of them yesterday. Which ones? Hell if I know! I guess we'll find out when I get them. ;)
