I've been thinking about picking up a DSi pretty soon. While I know I'll have no problem finding JRPGs, I was wondering if the Giant Bomb community knew of any good WRPGs for DS. The only one that comes to my mind is the Sonic RPG BioWare made.

WRPGs for DS
That Sonic RPG counts as a WRPG? Odd how I've never thought of it that way. If you're looking for WRPGs on the DS, don't come to me. I don't know of a single WRPG on the system.

" Am I the only one who wishes Bioware would shrink down the Infinity Engine and toss a fantasy RPG on there? I really loved the setting of the Icewind Dale games, and would love to see something like that again. "I really like that idea. The DS pen can be used to navigate the character.
Yeah, this is definitely a void in the DS catalogue. You have to blame Western developers for this. It isn't as if it can't do a Fallout or a Oblivion, in a cartoon style. Just look how deep and complex JRPGs are and tell me it isn't possible.
"And also The Dark Spire is western, isn't it? "The Dark Spire was created by a Japanese company and is pretty much a straight-up Wizardry knockoff, which used to be a Western franchise, but has since been claimed by the Japanese (who are nuts for that franchise -- I believe it was the most popular Western franchise over there until GTA came along).
But yeah, if you do like pre-Might & Magic/Elder Scrolls PC-style RPGs, then The Dark Spire should be one to check out. It also has the right art style for it. Etrian Odyssey 1 & 2 play very similar but have a very cutesy anime look to them.
Mazes of Fate plays like a PC-style RPG from the early nineties like Eye of the Beholder (you'll be selecting your attacks from a menu and waiting for a timebar to fill up), and Orcs & Elves, Deep Labyrinth, and the yet-to-be released Fighting Fantasy are hack 'n' slash games like Elder Scrolls. Deep Labyrinth, however, was created by a Japanese company and has very cutesy colorful graphics.
As for modern WRPGs on the DS... I really can't think of any.
Oh, and Sonic RPG is defnitely not a WRPG. It has some branching dialogue trees in it but they don't affect the game in any way.
