I am terrible at naming things. I thought of making a spreadsheet of names ahead of time while I'm waiting for Friday so I don't have to think for a long time in the moment. A more interesting idea is to get everyone to discuss ideas for names.

I'm really not really interested in names that are memes, or sexual, or intentionally offensive but of course anyone is free to go with those themes, though the developers have said they will be moderating them. Be as goofy and stupid as you want to be.

As for me, I am also horrible with just coming up with something, so I'll be taking a lot of names from various fictions and media, if I think they sound good for a planet name.

Magic the Gathering Planes really work for planets. Zendikar, Ravnica, Innistrad, Mirrodin. I'll probably start in that general area.

And of course if I find a few really pretty planet that seems peaceful, I'll name em after my daughters.

First thing I would do is grab a list of every single named moon in the solar system, cross off the famous ones you know, and use those.

Astronomers go deep into mythology trying to name, say, all of Jupiter's 30 moons.

Whenever I get the game, I will be naming planets after physiological nutrition terms and EMS medications. Those are always my go to.

Kinda not interested in changing the names of planets/creatures. I might add something to them, but I think I'll like keeping the generated name for most discoveries.

Maybe that'll change once I start playing.

I did this exact thing. Tried naming a planet Batmanbatmanbatman, pressed R2 after the first batman. So now my star system has a Batman and a Batmanbatmanbatman.
