I am a HUGE oddworld fan and i have been waiting for this since it was announced. This game will be coming out first on PS4 other platforms will follow afterwards. Lorne Lanning has said in the past that if this game does well it can open up new games in the oddworld series.

The original game was a huge part of my childhood so i am really excited for this.

First day purchase for me too, I love Oddworld and really hope this game starts a new lease of life for the series.

I never played the original, but still very interested in this remake. I'll wait to see what the reviews have to say before I spend $30, though.

Sadly, this game feels like pretty clear PS+ fodder so it is hard to justify buying the game and games like this. It kinda makes me wonder how much the free games on both consoles will affect the purchasing habits of people.

Absolutely. I started playing the original a while back and this was announced soon after. It was still awesome, but I put it off til this one comes out.

Maybe, when it's cheaper. I never played much of the original, but it still holds a place in my childhood purely for the opening tutorial sequences. It had a distinctive and foreboding atmosphere that's still stuck with me since.

Maybe if it reviews well and has a platinum trophy.

I loved the original as a child, and play the games now and then on Steam. I don't own a PS4 so I'll be waiting for a PC release. So excited to play it though.

Yes. Oddworld was one of my first PS1 games and hold a special place in my heart.

I've never actually played any of the Oddworld games, but seeing as I'm chomping at the bit to play something on my Ps4 I might check this out.

While I do want the game, I'm going to wait out for the Wii U version. Seems like a great game for Off-TV Play.

So it does. I wish these smaller games had somewhat easier platinums that more or less just requires beating the game. This way I'd have more incentive to play them. I know some people will call this dumb but trophies can be a factor in if I decide to play a game. I'd rather not have to spend many hours and replaying these smaller games over and over.

@spudtheblacklab: Yes, but I assume that there will be a downloadable version of the game, and given that the PS4 will have a rather limited back catalogue for a couple of years it's a pretty good bet that it will be on PS+ at some point.

If I had a PS4 I would buy it just to help getting more games in the franchise. Will buy it on PC when that day comes. Already own the original both on GoG and Steam...

I'm leaning towards getting it due to the interviews they've done saying how the money from this goes into making the next game, I like how they've been open with that stuff and feel it should be rewarded. My only problem is Rogue Legacy is out the following week, then a few days later The Last of Us, I'm also yet to play Transistor or Guacamelee which I bought recently or the PS+ games for the last 2 months...too many games.

Not for PS4, but I'll be all over it when it lands on PC. The first two Oddworld games are some of the best ever made, and I'm really looking forward to this remake.

The original still holds up so I don't see the need to buy it but if it leads to a new game I'm all for that.

I was thinking about it. I thought it'd be $15, maybe $20. But it's $30. If you haven't played the game that might be a decent price but they've also released the originals for like $3 for both on sales. I'm not one to usually gripe about prices but it seems a bit steep.

The originals really do hold up, but they are a bit limited in resolution. I'm quite excited to see the game I love in a modern resolution and 3d assets. The screenshot comparisons they're showing on their site look extremely faithful to the original game.

It does seem a little steep, but bear in mind this isn't a simple upscaling of the original. It's completely rebuilt. It's not a short game either - Abe's Oddysee was quite long. It's not a small downloadable game, it's a fully fledged "feature-length" game.

For sure. It's more expensive than I think it should be (20 dollars would be a better price) but I want to fund further Oddworld games. I love the franchise, and I'm psyched to see it coming back. Lanning said this will have to sell 250k copies for them to make a new Oddworld game, and I hope it makes it. I'm wondering if that's the reasoning behind the price, too -- gamble that there are enough fans who will buy it at 30 that they end up making more money than they would from more people buying it at 20.

Maybe I'll throw them the 30 bucks then.

@deathfromace: This one is Abe's Oddysee completely re-done and I believe the funding of the next game they're talking about would be a similar remake of Abe's Exxodus, not a new entry in the franchise. Yet.

@spudtheblacklab: Yeah, you're right, I misremembered. It was 250k for an Exoddus remake, and 500k for a new Oddworld (likely Fangus Klot).

Also you should remember that the game now scrolls, instead of having static screens. And that, to me, makes it a worthwhile remake on its own. No more running into pits that are just offscreen!

I've never been the biggest oddworld fan but maybe this will get me into it. Seems worth the risk.

Microsoft treated Just Add Water (Oddworld devs) like shit so what comes around, goes around. Just Add Water literally had to wait before indie gaming was taken seriously before Microsoft even allowed them on their platforms. You should thank Sony for making a huge indie push and Microsoft trying to copy it. It is confirmed for an XB1 release.

This game kind of rules. I did play it back in the day and went through the first section a year or two back. I'm past that now and I know it's not just nostalgia talking.

Clever design, a ton of personality, beautiful environments, and just a fun time overall. Planned to pop it in for a bit, and it's already been 3 hours instead. Good times.
