A pancake is a round cake that is prepared using batter, eggs, milk, and typically a rising agent. Once prepped, the batter is poured onto a heated surface, generally a griddle, but a frying pan can even be used. By region, pancakes can differ, such as a thinner pancake may be called a crepe.
Pancakes are also generally topped with butter and syrup. However, different types of fruit, sugar, and whipped toppings can also be applied to pancakes.

Despite syrup's necessary relationship with pancakes, it has been shown that consuming syrup on its own can lead to health complications such as diabetes, and being a fat ass.
