Pa-ri-ah [puh-rah-uh]: one who is despised
Pariah is a first person shooter for the x-box. This is one of many first person shooters that owes its existence solely to the multiplayer boom on consoles. Alas this game has nothing new or exciting to offer, nor can it execute any of the things that make FPS’s fun or enjoyable to play.
In Pariah you play as a doctor….who is sick… no wait, that was the girl, or where they both sick, anyway you must fight back the splinted faction of an army who wants the girl because she can….explode… and they want to exploit her explodingness…ess … then there is your daughter whose dead who you want to resurrect with the magic virus…Oh and there is a floating wrinkled old cripple…whose evil… As you can see there is a story trying to be told here, but it is told so epically bad you will have gotten a more clear picture of the plot by reading the previous synopsis than playing the actual game.
As for the gameplay, its terrible. The A.I is bad but the level design is worse. The bad guys seem to be just sprinkled around the levels randomly with no thought as to what would make fun or exciting encounters. The vehicles are deathtraps, and you are better off walking. The weapons themselves don’t feel satisfying at all, they feel terrible. At the very least the guns do look cool. From the plasma gun to the Frag Rifle, all the guns look unique and have some nice loading animations, its just too bad your going to have to eventually pull the trigger and ruin any illusion that these guns are awesome.
This game has absolutely no redeemable factors, The A.I is poor, level design is horrendous, and the story is complete gibberish. This game is really, really bad. Pariah; one who is despised. Well at least they got the title right.
