Battlefield 3 stuttering and PC crash.

#1 Posted by doobish (148 posts) -

So I feel extremely ripped off by EA\DICE because I spent good money on their game and I spent $1000 on a computer than can run it. No matter what video settings I have the game on it stutters terribly all the time, making the game completely unplayable. The game freezes and I can't Ctrl Alt Delete or anything I have to force shut down my computer, sometimes it could be after 5 minutes of playing and at maximum 30 minutes. My specs are:

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 560 ti

CPU: Intel i3 550 @ 3.2Ghz

RAM: 4GB 1333Mhz

OS: Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Please give me a solution, I have the latest nvidia drivers, I've also tried the beta drivers but they didn't help.

I had stuttering with 2 GTX 580s in SLi. No crashes though..

Turning off Hyperthreading in the BIOS solved it for me..

Why that would help I dont know, but it was a common problem solver for many on various forums..

Hope you get it sorted!!

Ok thanks I'll try that, anyone know about the crashing though?

My friend chucked the same video card as you (560 ti), in his old Dell PC and he runs the game med/high no probs what so ever...

Just start troubleshooting..

1.Turn off Hyperthreading first.. see what happens then,

2.Repair your Battlefield 3 installation. To do this, go into your Origin Client, right-click Battlefield 3, and finally click “Repair Install”. What will happen is that all the latest patches and updates will be installed along with a fresh boot of BF3.

3.Disable anti-aliasing, filtering and V-sync see what happens?

Also google the problem cus someone will always have the same problem, and may have salready solved it.. Worked for me!!

(oh yeah, check those temps)

Sounds like an overheating issue to me.

Just how many CPU's have you properly mounted a cooling unit too? People F this up by not applying lube or using way too much. Either way can cause over heating. Does it also crash when using burn in software?

No it's not that I've put in 20000000000 CPU's before, and I ran temp tests while playing the game and it's definitely not an overheating problem.

Don't blame EA or DICE for your hardware issues, which you will hopefully resolve.

Actually it is their fault, I figured it out. Its to do with realtek onboard sound cards, theres a bug in the game that makes it crash if you have a realtek onboard soundcard. So I can either buy a different sound card or play without sound untill a patch.

Yeah well I hope so it's happening to alot of people. I disabled the realtek sound card and I'm using nvidia hd audio through hdmi from my GPU to my monitor and then audio cables pluged into my monitor. I knew having all those inputs on this monitor would come in handy some day. :P
