I keep getting blank squares whenever I see Japanese or Chinese or anything with symbols. I recently clean installed to Windows 7 and before Windows 7 I had no problems. I'm sure I'm missing a codec or something. Can you provide any help?
You talking about subtitles in a video or just web browsing?
Either way you'll have to install support for East Asian languages in Windows. Probably best to look it up on Google I don't know off the top of my head but I've done it many times. That should work for 95% of your potential uses.
@Vinchenzo: I know that when I clean instal my OS, the language packs are available as optional updates. I haven't used Windows 7 yet, but I assume there's a windows update feature which should let you view available updates, and the language packs should be among them. That's how it was in Vista, anyway.
