I'm sure many of you PC folks remember playing Space Quest, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, full throttle, Monkey Island, Leasure suit Larry... the list goes on and on... The games that were great AND hilarious. Unfortunately, every studio it seems decided that those games are not cool or profitable or something and stopped making them. I would love to see these games have sequels or even some original IPs. I don't want them to make them in the cartoon shaded-3D graphics versions either - I mean true cartoon style point-and-click graphics of yesteryear except updated with really high resolution and crisp detail.

Anyone wish they'd make a comeback as much as me? Any games in this style I've missed in the last 2-3 years? any coming to feed the need?

I guess the amount of responses to this thread cheering for one makes me understand... a single tear just streamed down my face.

I would love to have another adventure game akin to Space Quest/Police Quest. It would make this simple man very happy.

I guess the popularity of the thread is indicative of peoples interest in this genre these days. But like you I would certainly love to see some sort of resurgence in this area. And maybe Cartman is right, we just need that one really kick ass one so that we can jump in and enjoy it one more time.

A new game in this genre would rock, but they rely so heavily on a humour and style that most of the industry just... doesn't seem to have any more.

I'd like the genre to. I doubt it though.

i would love to see a nice new adventure game absolutely!!! i remember the first time i played Day Of The Tentacle and i believe that was the first adventure game i ever played on the PC after switching over from the amiga's. I tell ya what though, the game Dracula : Origins is a really good adventure game, not quite like those classics, but it has the same classic adventure feel to it which i haven't seen in a pretty long time myself....

I Don't think the genre is dead or anything, just hasn't been explored in a long time.

That's an excellent idea to bring these games back around. Even my wife wants some new KQ action. That genre used to be a staple but seems to have faded away. I have faith it will return. All it will take is one game to make a big splash and the others will follow.

Telltale Games has two seasons of new Sam and Max games.  They are also making the Strong Bad and Wallace and Gromit games.  Just Adventure has a ton of reviews of games you have never heard of because the genre is niche now.

Telltale games is doing a good job of making adventure games for the pc and the DS also has some good adventure games like Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton.
