No not really. Apparently a 980 will run everything at max, minus the hair physics, at a solid 60 fps. The 970 will fair really well with Witcher 3. Maybe not the best looking and running, but damn near close to it.
@mb: Would upgrading my CPU from an i5-2500k 3.30 to something be worth it?
I wouldn't. If anything, I would just get a beefy aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock it. That is still a good CPU.
If you wanted to upgrade to a modern i5 or i7 you would have to buy a new motherboard anyway. That's a lot of expense for probably not much more performance in the end. Even going from just a 2500k to a 4690k you would be looking at around $340 since you would need a new motherboard as well.
