My PC that I built all by myself...
Mobo- Tforce 550
CPU- AMD AthlonX2 3600 65 nm with a big ass heatsink, it blocks 2 of my 4 RAM slots, DOH!
RAM- 2 GB G-skill DDR2 6400
GFX- Sapphire Radeon X1950GT 256 MB, have to take apart and unclog dust every 9 months, way to go on that cooling trap guys!
PWR- 550 watt Ultra Max V series, 2 amps short on the 12v rail for my vid card, but don't have alot of drives and crap sucking power so knock wood.
HDD- 160 GB SATA its a WD or some crap, I forgot.
Case-Forgot brand name, its not very cool looking though, but I got it and the power supply for 60 bucks from a guy who just bought it and changed his mind. Good ass deal at the time.
Monitor- Dell 19" CRT (sony guts!) got for 25 bucks cuz you fools all think LCDs are better. Have fun with your milliseconds of response times and having to run insane rez to not look like crap, back in my day monitors didn't list response times cuz with CRT its the speed of light.
Lowly by some folks standards I'm sure, but it runs everything beautifully, 40FPS Devil May Cry 4 at 1600x1200 everything maxed but no AA, my monitor doesn't need it at that rez. Crysis had to be nerfed a little, but I did find a great cfg that implemented alot of the cool DX10 stuff while skimping on less noticeable things, pulling in the LOD and stuff. Didn't even finish that game anyway, loved the GFX and thats about it, gameplay was a bit ass and the story, god how many cliches are you going to pack in there Crytek? "Lets have a rebel guy who plays by his own rules and acts psychotic, and call him Psycho! This stuff writes itself!"
"lol on the crysis comments heh... but that system really runs that good? thats impressiveWell IMO these quad core cpus and 4-8GB of ram aren't even being used yet, its total overkill atm. Hell they don't even exploit 64 bit yet for most stuff and that came out around Doom 3, most ppl dont even have a 64 bit OS and so that feature sits wasted. Hardware comes out and then the devs take years to properly exploit it, I was ranting about how worthless DX10 is so far in another thread, most games dont use it and those that do have ridiculously small improvements. Its all about the vid card, got mine for 120 bucks but its got 16 unified shaders (allmost as good as stream processors, they arent fixed to a certain task like seperate vertex and pixel units system most cards had) and full 128 bit HDR in hardware, meaning all of those funky lighting fx don't give me a hiccup. Its basically a revision of thier really expensive (at the time) X19xx series that was made cheaper by the fact that they had been out for so long. My advice is to get the best vid card you can and a cheap processor, hardly any games are CPU intensive. (My CPU was 85 bucks but I heard great things about it, was one of the first 65nm chips so it runs nice and cool, in the future I might oc it but no need yet.)
