Hey guys I am currently living in Japan with a Lightning edition PS3 (most beautiful thing either) and as you can imagine... It's hard to have games that I can understand being a foreigner and all. I can afford to buy 2 games from the import game shop and I am looking for games that I can invest a lot of time in. I already played played and beat Fallout 3, MGS 4, DMC 4, Batman AA, Burnout Paradise, Bioshock and Red Faction: Guerilla in Canada. I was thinking mayeb Demons Souls and Borderlands... Do you have any other suggestions? I like just about every kind of game besides turn based tactics games. I would really appreciate everyone's input!
Also are there any Japanese only games you think I should get? The only games I seem to be able to play with no issue are fighting games and Bio Hazard 5 (Resident Evil... For some reason its in English lol).

Best Long Term Games
I have a list of PS3 exclusive games that look interesting to me (including at least one turn-based tactical game that you can ignore) but it's hard to answer these kinds of questions without knowing a bit more about your likes and dislikes. Demon's Souls (I never know where to put the apostrophe) is an acquired taste for many but it will keep you busy; that much I know from what I've read. The latest Yakuza might be good for a larf but that's down to your tolerance level for beat-em-ups and minigames. As far as understanding what everyone is saying, not so sure, but if you're in Japan I'm assuming you're trying to learn the language.
How's Japan otherwise? Learning things about Japan they don't teach you in school?
If you buy something with meta progression and online play u can get stuck on it quite easily. What about Modern Warfare 2? People are playing this in Japan, I suppose. But u should learn Japanese dude and be super imba when competing for a job later!
I've only played it on the PC, so I can't tell you if it's still worth your time on the PS3, but I know that Dragon Age: Origins can last a good long time. Borderlands is a good 2nd choice, though. I sunk 30-40 hours into just 1 character in that game and that's with no DLC.

Learning things about Japan they don't teach you in school? "School generally doesn't teach you much but yeah I'm learning the language slowly and the culture here is great. People are generally nice and the country itself is good but like all places has it's ups and downs. Because I have the Lightning Edition PS3 I have FF13 but in Japanese and I'm not exactly good enough at the language for something so heavy... I have Demon's Souls for PS3 at home but I only got to play a bit of it before I came here in October. My brother says hes played online with his friends and its more fun that way so I am considering buying it. If Borderlands is similar to Fallout in hoarding your weapons and managing them along with leveling up your character I think I should buy it. I spent something like 90 hours on one character in Fallout 3 and that was with only 1 DLC... Brotherhood of Steel

I hope to at least have casual conversations in Japanese before I head back in October this year... or March depending on how this visa BS goes down.
" I would say Elder Scrolls IV: Obilvion but playing Fallout 3 fills that role quite well. Persona 4 might be a good choice granted you haven't watched the Endurance Run and your PS3 is backwards compatible. "I wish it was but I was thinking about going back to Elder scrolls again... I love the owning more than one house and hoarding mass amounts of items... My Fallout 3 house is overflowing and if I had a PC instead of a Mac I would've got it for PC.

dragon age and I sure sunk ton of time into the story maker in smackdown vs raw 2010 that is truely my guilty pleasure
You should definitely check out www.leagueoflegends.com. A reasonable amount of the content is free to play and everything else can be bought or unlocked. I'm addicted to this game since months. And You can't lose a thing if u try it, so give it a shot ;).
