I don't have too many things I think Playstation needs to sort out, mainly because in the last few months they've gotten their act together. We needed an official headset, in game XMB, Trophies, more exclusive titles and a keyboard and they are all coming or already here. So this is now my list of things that Playstation needs to get sorted out.
1. In game chat room access allowing you to choose to talk to everyone in game or just your buddies in your list. There are too many pricks to wade through online. The voice chat function should be built into the system, not the game - think Teamspeak. This would allow you to chat even in games that aren't online.
2. In game access to the chat settings menu....because DUUH!
3. In game camera access - so I can watch my friends cry as I destroy them.
4. Music to be listenable at all times just like it is on Xbox. This is a feature that should have been in there from the start and a feature that would help after hearing the same in-game songs a thousand million times. It would also help in games like LittleBigPlanet where we aren't allowed to use our own songs. We can suffice and just slap em on in the background.
Anything else that I haven't thought of. Do feel free to add!
All of those would be awesome features, but the problem may be that they are not possible due to hardware limitations. You can't even look at your pictures in the middle of a game. >.<
Microsoft owns patents for a lot of the software innovations in the 360 interface. That's why you're gonna see a lot of "sort of the same idea but not really the same thing" on the PS3 as they upgrade the OS, such as the music playing and in-game XMB.

For me, im quite satisfied with what it does right now, maybe more file compatibility for video playback like xvid and whatnot. And make those work on PSP also and im in heaven!
I think more video compatability is a damn good suggestion. The PSP always had so much potential and only the modders have managed to unleash it. Tis a shame really. I wasn't aware that M$ patented that stuff man, thats crazy.

WOO that is really agreed. i couldn't stand it that every match at my friends house i had to mute almost everyone.
i think a feature to be able to play more videos on the internet browser would be nice or maybe even google chrome?. similar to how you download a pic i think you should be able to download videos
Some of the things listed can be implemented by Sony. Others are features that developers would have to put in games themselves and have nothing to do with the PlayStation platform.
The great PS3 games are all on PSN. That's really the platform's strength right now. I haven't been impressed by any of the disk based games outside Disgaea, and that's a PS2 game, really.

According to Sony, Adobe don't license the most recent versions of flash for console browsers. So that's something they can't do anything about either, except put more pressure on adobe.
I second more video and audio support. And especially things like divx3, which it seems to struggle with.
I'd say it needs stuff like game soundtracks, trophies, online signup (I'm looking at you MGO), patching systems, 'played with' lists, resolution (no games that don't support 1080i, although that's not a problem for me) / sound quality (DTS, Dolby, or just Stereo) and every other main feature to be standardized across all games on the platform. I don't think it'll ever be achieved but they should have used more forethought with these features.

I still can't believe that there are still games that won't have trophies. I'm looking at you Sonic and Prince of Persia.
Yeah... we've been clamoring for that for years on the Xbox... I don't think Sony is going to warm up to the idea any sooner then Microsoft will.
The only things that I think that the PS3 really needs is more cities for the LWP, Flash 9 for the internet( Sometimes I'm too lazy to use the PC to fap), A better integrated friends/messaging system, more/downloadable gamer icons, the ability to use your PS Eye to make gamer icons, and for Home to actually... you know... come out. or be real.
And even if Flash 9 isn't licensed for console use... team up with the Adobe and find a way to make a Flash for consoles. Seriously. It's limiting.

I think they're becoming compulsory soon. Those few games where they started development earlier and are too lazy to go back and add it in have been allowed a bit of a grace period.
