I was interested in buying that one too, but I decided against it and bought a $15 bluetooth headset off ebay instead. Works like a charm.

will the bluetooth headset in the socom bundle work with cell phones too?

Is it good? Well, except for a bit of an ear size issue (I solved it with surgical tubing), yeah, quality is good and everything works nicely.

I love the official PS3 headset.  It works a crap load better than the one that came packed in with Warhawk.

1 problem here in the uk is there was limited stock shipped, everywhere is now sold out and i think we're being made to wait until socom is released before we can get or hands on them, it seems like a shamless attempt at money grabbing by forcing us to pay for the game and the head set.

Definitely do not get the newer one bundled with Socom confused with that older shitty one by Jabra. Man i was so disappointed with that one when I bought Warhawk with it. But yeah, the Socom one is very good quality.

The official headset is worth getting either with Socom or by itself. Its better than  the Warhawk headset that came with the Warhawk bundle.

I just bought some other headset that's wireless... and it's a good headset (both ears not just one - bought it as an open box for 10 bucks. Was originally like 40). Good quality to hear people, and it's not tinny. I usually hate single ear bluetooth headsets cause they sound tinny and some people are hard to hear because of it... dunno how the Sony one is though.
