Eh, don't know what to say. Never heard of that before. I just had my PS3 die on me a few weeks ago, if you want to know more just read the blog post I have.

Just call up Sony, and if the problem isn't something you can fix, then you'll have to get it repaired. You better hope you still have your one year warranty, because if you don't they'll charge you $150 to get a refurbished one...

    Good luck, man.

Agreed with TheJollyRajah, you should contact Sony.

    Sony's numbers for PlayStation Support:
    Number for UK: 0-192-365-3598
    Number for US: 1-800-345-7669

Alright, I tried calling...but their call line is pretty much useless =P

So I sent an e-mail, and if they don't help me fix the problem, they'll at least tell me where I Can get it repaired.

Don't hurt me Sony, not this close to Fallout 3 =(

It could possibly be your hard drive, you may have to reformat your entire drive.
EDIT- I say this because people were complaining about this after updating to FW 2.40 and they were then told that they could fix their ps3 by reformatting their hard drive.

More Problems: Now I'm trying to send it into Sony for repairs, but guess what!?

They don't let you send it in if you're in Canada.

So what is the problem? It could be easier just to buy a cheap 2.5'' HDD and stick it in there and see if it works. Or even use an external drive.

That's not true. You can send it in if your Canadian. You just have to send it into another one of their repair facilities.

Heh, that's where I fail. You should call Sony and tell them where you could send in your PS3, because they can't possibly deny you the one year warranty.

I went to Future Shop today to see if I could get it exchanged, they gave me a little piece of paper with the SCEA U.S Number on it. Same number I called last night.

Well then whoever you called must of lied or he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. I would say call one more time and hope you get someone different. I know of some Canadians that had problems and got their's repaired. If they tell you no again, complain and tell them that you have a warranty and you demand your PS3 to be fixed. You purchased their system and part of the agreement was a one year warranty for you.

I feel for you man, this sucks.

Yep, all systems have problems. I remember when my Gamecube crapped out on me... so sad. Though I got my 360 at launch and it's still going strong, so I think it's just bad luck.

Keep calling Sony, try e-mailing asking where you can turn it in, or even if there is any chance of Sony getting it for you.

If the screens is just black turn it on but hold your finger on the power button until you here a double beep (about 5-10 seconds) this should reset the display settings so try that.
