For my computer monitor I have a Benq HD2040 (I'm pretty sure), anyway this particular model also has HDMI ports, so I hooked up my PS3. First time I played, it was brilliant (my monitor is actually bigger than the family TV). However now my PS3 is having issues with the video output (Turn it on, blackscreen, no sound) Now I know what's causing this, it's that the output video settings on the ps3 are set to the normal tv ones, not HDMI. Now I can actually change them if I hook up my ps3 to my TV and change em that way. Except when I then hook up my PS3 to my monitor, they've changed back, and black screen. Any ideas?

PS3 video output issues = frustration
" @DCFGS3 said:Red light was on. Pushed on button, beeped once for turning on, continued to hold down button until another beep." @Andorski said:How many times did it beep for you? "" Hold the power button down until it beeps. It should then automatically set itself to the proper video settings. "Tried it (several times), didn't work. "
" @DCFGS3: hmm, and you're saying that when you connect it to the HDMI on the TV then it works just fine. Maybe the problem is with your screen. I mean there's no reason why it wouldn't work. You say it used to work but then it just stopped one day? "Yeah, I played AC2 for ages on it, turned it off, and then went to turn it back on the next day and it just didn't work. I don't think it's the screen, because it knows it's getting a signal (otherwise it bluescreens and says 'no hdmi connected'), just like the video output problem.
As far as I'm concerned, there are two possible issues,
One: I have my computer also connected and on, and am switching between the two inputs, so that may cause confusion...somehow (I can't remember if I had my comp on when I was playing it last time).
Two: My brother also has a PS3 profile, and perhaps the PS3 settings are profile specfic, (although I doubt it).
We have a HD tv, and I have set it there to HDMI. One possible issue is that the HD settings are for the TV, not my Monitor, so the PS3 reverts to normal SD inputs." @DCFGS3: If you know someone with an HD TV then you can try setting it there. btw, what are you doing for sound? "
In regards to sound, I have a logitech set of 5.1 speakers arranged around my computer, but rarely used them as I have 5.1 headphones, so I got the old Red, Yellow, White cable, plugged that in, and then hooked the red and white up to a converter which connected to the Green, Orange and Black 3.5mil inputs from the speakers. I realise that this may have caused an issue, and they are no longer connected.
