    Pokémon Black/White

    Pokémon Black and White are the fifth generation of Pokémon games for the Nintendo DS. Both introduce several new game play innovations to the series including a more complex battle system, fully-animated 3D models and environments, extensive online integration, and a refresh of the entire selection of Pokémon.

    If I had to guess I'd say Snivy is a portmanteau of Snake+Ivy (or Snide+Ivy, given his smug little grin). 
    Tepig is Tepid+Pig, which could be neat  if each stage of evolution uses a hotter word.  
    The only one I can't really jive with is Oshawott. Oshawa+Otter? 
     
    Thoughts? Prefer the Japanese names? Prefer the fan-made names (Pignite, Wotter, Smugleaf, Emboar, etc)?

    None of them interest me, to much anime curviness and not enough funny animal/plant resemblance.  I can't get into a pokemon game if I don't like the starters, they're like my little buddies through the whole game.

    The three Poke'mon battle system made me lose all interest in this game.  I will still be buying it and spending 25+ hours on it, because it's a fucking Poke'mon game.
     
    I think the names are alright.

    This series has really gone downhill since GSC... RSE was quite good, DPP was meh at best, this looks pretty bleh in terms of the starters. Although these look more likable than DPP's.
