Portal 2
Game » consists of 20 releases. Released Apr 19, 2011
Portal 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed first-person puzzle game, carrying forward its love of mind-bending problems and its reckless disregard for the space-time continuum.
If Valve were to make Portal 3 what do think the story will be? (Topic is five years old)
" Valve already confirmed Portal 3.I think that would be a funny moment, since both characters are mute. I guess they would just nod at each other and she would give him the gun."
It's called Half Life 2 Episode 3, it's when you get the Portal gun from Chell.
" @KaosAngel said:That instance would be funny, but valve would find some arbitrary way around them interacting by my assumption." Well, Valve has been researching sign language to try and get it in a game or something else. I think Gordon just doesn't talk when you are playing as him, while Chell may actually be mute. If somehow they do meet (they won't because Chell is in a time 300 years after HL2) she would use sign language to talk." @supermike6 said:

As for Portal 3. Please no, they ended things so well, it would kind of ruin it. They were going to make 2 a prequel however (with no portals and something called F-Stop) that took place in the 50's. They could do that but just not put the Portal name on it for christ sake.
" @KaosAngel said:I'm going to assume, if that happened, they would meet face to face, chell would die, and Gordon would pick up the gun off the ground and portal combine into the galaxy." To be honest, this seems like a likely scenario. Adding Portal like puzzles within the next Half Life game seems like the next logical step for both franchises." Valve already confirmed Portal 3.

""did Chell leave Aperture with the gun at the end? I don't remember if she did.
" @KaosAngel: Yup. Portal 2 pretty much takes place after everything in the Half Life series. Gordon Freeman may still be alive with the whole status thing, but everyone else would be dead. So no Chell and Gordon will never meet.so if they do have the Portal gun in Half Life 3(which is mostly confirmed)... they would have to get it out of Aperture Science somehow....@TurboMan: Nope"
" @TurboMan said:""did Chell leave Aperture with the gun at the end? I don't remember if she did.:( "It's on the moon
The HL/Portal wiki says that " As such, the events of Portal 2 apparently coincide with the return of Gordon Freeman & The Resistance, around 202-. " This is from the HL universe time line .
Also it is stated that Chell will have an interaction with a major character from the HL series, so it could Mr.Freeman, or Adrian Shephard(from Opposing Force) who if I remember correct was also taken by The G-Man, or it could even be The G-Man
The question is whether you'd follow Chell or GlaDos though the next game.
I know this was probably in jest, but didn't Chell leave the Portal Gun in Aperture?" Valve already confirmed Portal 3.

I would like to see more of Cave Johnson in any case.
You all know that Valve can't make a third game in a franchise. It has proven itself to be impossible.
" So the guy who insists you were hibernating for a hundred years turned out to be a robot built to be incompetent. So maybe don't take him at his word. "Also, how effective is hibernation in a hotel room with a simple bed?
Yeah, but the automated message also said you were asleep for 999,999,99-" So the guy who insists you were hibernating for a hundred years turned out to be a robot built to be incompetent. So maybe don't take him at his word. "
If they make another Portal, I don't think Chell will be in it. The end of the co-op made Chell pretty unnecessary, and GLaDOS erasing her own character arc at the end of the single player means they can start fresh with her again too, if they wanted to.

That information was from before Portal 2 was released, and from a different version of the game, that was going to involve time travel to an earlier version of Aperture and essentially be a prequel where Chell was going to face an evil robot with Cave Johnson's personality downloaded into it, and was originally not intended to use Portals at all. They changed the plot to be "hundreds of years" in the future and added Wheatley and the gels instead. Chell was going to meet a Half-Life character in Portal 2, not the other way around.
They might change that now and have Chell show up in future Half-Life games, but I don't think that's likely. I think the Borealis is going to be the only major crossover between the two series from this point on, and what Valve has said lately pretty much coincides with that.

Chell's story may be over, but you obviously haven't played through co-op yet if you're saying that things "ended so well".
Honestly, I'd love for Portal 3 to be a prequel that takes place in the 60's where you're a mute homeless man just trying to make $60.
Couple years into the future.

I don't mind if they don't make a sequel, but I'd at least hope for some kind of spiritual successor with a similar humour puzzle/humour focus if they do decide to leave aperture behind.
Portal 3 should follow the events of a man named... ahh! Gordon Freeman and a friend of his... hmmm... Alyx Vance! As they explore the corridors of the docked Aperture science ship, the Borealis.
"hahahaThey are going to bundle it with episode 3 and call it "the you're never going to play this box".

I think I might have this down. If they were to make a Portal 3, the main character would be Caroline.
Another thing. She wouldn't say she needed time to think unless telling her would in some way damage the likelyhood of her getting back into her body. Also, it appeared the Cave Johnson and Caroline were in a relationship. Ref: Cave Johnson's attitude toward her in the audio tapes, and the painting from the "Painting of a Woman" achievement. And the only reason I could come up with for not telling Chell was that Cave Johnson and Caroline are Chell's parents.
Caroline must have been put in Charge of Aperture and GLaDOS didn't like her, ref: GLaDOS: "*When Cave is talking* YEAH! YEAH! I LIKE THIS GUY!" She must have like Cave a lot, and not wanted a new leader, then since her last 2 minutes were repeated over and over, her memories may have been repressed. She must have taken over Aperture and used Caroline as a test subject, and when Caroline fought back, she lost when she reached GLaDOS and was killed. SHE must have been the one to write the directions on the walls to GET to GLaDOS in Portal 1! Sadly she must've lost, making her daughter, Chell, the PERFECT replacement test subject, since Cave was dead from moon rock poison.
TL;DR: Caroline and Cave are Chell's parents. Caroline was tested on, killed, and Chell was used as the next test subject; where Portal 1 starts. [Evidence in the section.]
I could see a couple of scenarios.
I agree with AustinQ's contribution. That is very likely and well thought-out. My idea is this:
P3: GLaDOS kicks Chell out of the facility, and finally gets back to rebuilding the facility without any interruptions. She discovers that the original Portal gun was left on the moon, so she builds another 2 for Atlas & P-Body. She finds out about the time travel experiments in earlier stages of Aperture Science, and she finds out the the Borealis is still stuck in the HL3 timeline. She activates the time travel again and sends the Borealis into the Portal timeline, along with Gordon & Alyx.
HL3: Gordon and Alyx are transported into Aperture Science, and GLaDOS starts using them for testing, as they have a gravity gun. GLaDOS gives them the two Portal guns for them to do gravity gun based co-operative testing. Gordon uses a combination of his crowbar, gravity gun, and portal gun to escape, taking one of the portal guns with him, but dropping his gravity gun, and second portal gun. He gets his scientists to rebuild the gravity gun, and battles the combine again with his previous arsenal as well as the portal gun.
P3: Chell starts to walk away from the facility and sees Alyx and Gordon escaping. She picks up the portal gun and gravity gun, and enters the facility again to find her parents, likely to be Cave and Caroline (as AustinQ pointed out). She has to battle her way through the new gravity gun based tests to get back into the main Aperture Science building. GLaDOS sees her with the Portal gun and changes the tests to try and make her give up the Portal gun, as GLaDOS wants her out. Chell ends up escaping and finding her parents, Cave and Caroline, and GLaDOS sets them free to live a happy life. They live in City 17, and Gordon & Chell just pass each other by in the town.
you walk in the door tryng to reconize it and you go down and glados says oh stay for i year that brith day i talked about
I would love to see Portal 3, but I don't see why we should connect it to Half Life, Just leave it at the Borealis, and possible references to Apature in Half Life. Using the basis fof the end of the Co-op story, You could be the next human subject Glados awakens, but Wheatley is finally able to get back with the portal gun on the moon (could be a hilarious scene between him and the "SPAAAAACE" robot) and He just wants to say sorry to Chell, Glados informs him, and He would ask your player to help, The whole game could be a choice to either side with Glados (who is most likely giving you examples of how he failed) or Wheatley. During the entirety of the story could reference somehow Chell's past to sate the fans, and go from there.
Because there is a considerable time gap between Portal and Portal2, my idea is that Gordon went into Aperture Science sometime after GlaDOS' destruction, and for some reason rebuilt GlaDOS, but differently resembling her Portal 2 appearance (which would explain why she looks different and why she isn't in a million pieces). Afterwards, Gordon would acquire the portal gun, stuff happens (maybe tests) then GlaDOS would somehow become a danger to him, leading him to turn her off (explaining why if she's repaired she's dead).
I haven't played the Half-Life series put I have played the Portal series so Im not sure if my idea would be possible. But in other words, this would merge the series and create a "Portal 1.5".
