I've been a quiet but loyal premium GB subscriber for years now but the redesign is something that is so problematic for my enjoyment of this site that I have to comment even though I know it will probably go unheard.
The new redesign actually interferes with my enjoyment of GB and the content it provides. The side-scroll menus are annoying and the order to the new layout is unintuitive. What was great about the design we had for years was the timeline. Everything was posted in order and you could scroll through it on a day-by-day basis to see what was coming out. There were plenty of ways to find a series then, but now I can't really follow the flow of the week.
The "Continue Watching" and "Popular" things are just useless and add noise to an already unpleasant navigational layout. The "Shows" section is great but give me a day-by-day timeline like we had. I want to be able to scroll through the last few days or weeks to see what went up when, I dont need them only ordered by series or in a slideshow-like view. Lists are great cause they're easy to parse the information from.
The "A Day in GB History" is the only thing that I actually like from all this new stuff. It's creative and fun. But the rest of the redesign is just painful
WHY AUTOPLAY!? No way to disable it is just bad design, like everything else that changed.
Also, who thought it would be a good idea to change the GB mascot? It was one of those things that was changed without needing to be changed and it looks bad.
Ways to fix this would be to make all of these sections modular, part of settings. Dont want to see any continue watching or quicklooks or anything in their own little slideshow of annoying crap, deselect it in settings. If we want a time-line/day-by-daylist like we had the other day, let us have that.
Going pure Netflix in design was a bad choice, its not how GB was used. I have to work harder to find content I missed last week and to find the wonderful written work since its not all in once place.
I really wish I could have the old site back. It's painful to use now.
