@abrasion: What did they say, specifically, that bothered you so much? I am still seeing a lot of posts here that are speaking vaguely as if the crew came out and completely tore PDP apart, when in reality, the harshest thing I heard was that the jokes stunk/were anti-semitic. They didn't call PDP an anti-semite (they went out of their way to say that he isn't), they didn't say he should be thrown from the internet never to be seen again, they didn't really judge him in any way at all. At most, Vinny seemed MORE irritated about the bullshit apology. Which I think is totally fair. The obvious impression I got was that he feels (like myself) that if you're going to apologize, do it, mean it, and learn from it.
This is just getting a little ridiculous, and no one seems to be remotely interested in pointing out where they are taking such offense from.
I've edited my post, you can go take a peek at it. I was almost entirely wrong and I leapt to conclusions. Considering how things have been with some particular staff in the East lately, I'm actually surprised that I was wrong, but pleasantly so.
My own dumb fault, my own dumb post, I take it back (and thanks for not quoting it, I was pretty preemptively pissed, based on previous behaviour on GOTY podcasts)

I would never actually do this and would never advocate for lynching in the press but that is what happened here.
I haven't even listened to more than 15 minutes of the episode yet and I totally and utterly knew that when this topic came up in the news, this would be the angle of the case with the Beastcast...

I have now listened to the segment and I'd like to apologise, I can admit when I'm wrong. Vinnie and Alex did harp on his apology not being sincere enough, I think it was, I don't think he's genuinely anti-semetic and he was the target of a hit piece, of course he's going to be pissed people took him out of context.
That being said, the rest of what Vinnie and Alex said was mostly factual and didn't leap to idiotic conclusions like MANY MANY (MANY!) of the stupid articles about this online.
I'll take my lumps and admit I'm wrong. Honestly, I think I'm still angry (!) about the Oculus / Palmer stunt Alex pulled, I assumed he pulled another one of those, before listening.
Hey I feel kinda bad but I'm compelled to write just how bad this is.
The lighting is FAR too bright for a 'scary' game. The dialogue is really, really bad. It's just lazy / lame / silly? The jump scares are poorly done and the poor controls / movement speed / rotation speed just feels so incredibly dated.
I don't know if this a HDR capturing fault or the game really is this bright? Perhaps Dan is bad at demoing a game he's already finished (and I <3 Dan, please note!) but something about this entire quicklook is bad. I wouldn't even consider playing this game :/
Second note: I'm a huge pussy with scary stuff and scare easily, PT is about 150 million times better than this.

Jeff really needs to get over his "complete package" bias. Trying to pip games for their multiplayer when it's not the focus seems ridiculous to me. Uncharted series has shipped with multiplayer too and it's also unremarkable.
They patched in multiplayer to the /original Deus ex/ many many years ago, because whiny internet nerds demanded it at the time as MP was just taking off. It didn't suit it and doesn't need it.
If a game has an immensely compelling single player package, I don't see how it can get a lower score or rating, just because they added another portion to the game not as good. Who cares?
Jeff pinged GTAV for this a couple of years back too which I found INSANE. Not only was he wrong (the GTAV multiplayer is actually fairly decent) but the single player game was insanely good value. None the less GTAV got stung in the GOTYs due to them adding more stuff to the package essentially...
EDIT: I'm not good at writing stuff generally, I don't hate or dislike Jeff, he's great - but this one thing he does in GOTYs I think is being a little too pedantic.
@abrasion: In your OG post I quoted, it seemed that the only connection you were making was that he funded a right wing group and that there are some right wingers that happen to be white nationalists. My point was that the group he funded has indeed supported white nationalism. Him associated himself with that group through funding is sure as hell a hot mess for Oculus. I agree with you it doesn't make him a white-supremacist, though. Nor do I believe he actually wants to support white supremacy. But the associated by funding is quite the hot mess.

Show me the data, the links, the images, please show me the clear information that they "indeed supported white nationalism"? All I've found is a single billboard. If anything it looks like Palmer was ripped off TBH.

and it STILL has little to do with god damned gaming, did he do it with Oculus funds? Did he modify Oculus rules, code, logos, websites, products? Did he ban games promoting equality or promote games which supported white nationalism / supremacist stuff?
........ I'm sorry but I'm not seeing this as anything but someone shouting on their soapbox about this and it was pretty apparent on the podcast.
Before I'm accused of it, I'm not even in your country, I have no hand in this game.
