wow had no idea how outdated Donkey-kong had become, all you need to play is a screen and a small wire board.

You could probably play Donkey Kong on something the size of a toddler's palm by now.

I'd like to see a nano play donkey kong.

@acer51: Apple won't make a console. They only do things when they are changing/inventing the product category by making something that is of so high a quality that consumers respond. The home console market is already well established and there is little room for apple to improve it. The android product is not going make much of an impact either. It's not going to have the content that is as high a quality as the content on the big 3. Without quality content I won't buy it, no matter how cheap it is. If OnLive was going to be influential then they would have already done so. You think they decided to make their micro-console with the intention of playing second fiddle to the big 3? They made their attempt at console gaming and it wasn't popular. Whatever they make after this will be comparatively small compared to the rest of the industry. I bet even Linux gaming is bigger than OnLive. All three of these potential products lack quality games that I can't get anywhere else. The only possible 4th entrant in my opinion is Valve, since they have the content to make a console worth purchasing, the brains to design it and the money to produce it.

I see your point with Onlive, they didn't reach the level they were trying to. however you have no idea how well the android console will or wont do, the "community" is often much better at making awsome games then big name companys, the android console could have sucsess for the same reason cell phone games do well now. Cheap games, that anyone can make, and this console will do it at a higher quality then the phones. And Apple has been thinking about making a new console for quite a while. Your oppinion of it being hard to create somthing new is wrong, you can always make somthing new to change the playing field, the question is will apple do this? probably not, but it sure seems like they want to make a new console.

Steam seems the least probable to make a console to me, but I like the idea.

Personally... I want valve to make a Steam Box which is also fully customizable and capable of being upgraded constantly and cheaply without any fear... also make it durable as a nintendo system and it will be amazing... I know some people may want to jump down my throat about a Steam box, but fuck it! I WANT ONE!!! VALVE!!! TAKE MY MONEY!!!

I doubt there going to make one, but if they did I'd want it to be more like a PC....and if they had a console you'd be able to get community mods for Skyrim and other games off steam.

That would be an advantage that might create a small following for the console, they could grow from there.

Recently I've been hearing about alot of company's besides the big 3 wanting to enter into the console wars.

Apples been thinking about a new console, Onlive is already out(they only have a micro-console though)...and recently I've seen that an Inde developer has gotten almost a million in funding to create an android console.

So It seems to me that the eighth generation is going to have at least one new entry. What do you guys think the chances of a new company in the console wars are?

I hope there are more consoles, not because I want to buy them but because competition creates better games and lower prices.
