Blog #039 - My Videogame Art/Design Collection

I have been running my Year in Design blog for a while now. 136 days to be exact. Every day since January first, and will continue until the end of the year.


Blog?

I'm an up and coming designer, and unsatisfied with just my education I have been doing these daily designs to do as much work as I can. I do work based on what inspires me, and in a lot of cases that is gaming. A bit less than 1/3 of my designs so far have been videogame related. I've posted a lot of them here, and some of you may have seen them.

Are Videogames Art?

Cheeky title, not what is meant by this blog at all. I'm not sure if 'art' is the right word, but I have 40 designs pieces. Nobody reads my blog really, so I thought I would do a compilation of the 40 videogame related pieces I have done so far. To view the high resolution version of each you'll have to visit the blog, I can't upload them here.

Art/Design

They are in random order. Some are good, some are OK. Some are bad. Let me know what you think!

It's okay, a bit flat, maybe your into graphic design. But you should always use structure, meaning make it 3d first with wireframes, then get another piece of paper or layer and pick the lines that are correct.

@HitmanAgent47: Not sure what you are getting at. Yeah, they are flat. That's my style. My actual drawing skills are very limited.

@AlisterCat: Well that's just my advice since i'm an artist myself. If you understand what i'm talking about, it will improve your drawings. You can still maintain a flat style but use more structure, it will look more in place.

That's the secret all pro artist use, once you understand this, drawing makes sense. Still that's a good start, good luck with your designs.

I like the Dead Space one. Reminds me of Rorscach ink blob mask.

Also Spikes bad, dogs good. What if the dog was on fire? I heard you shouldn't pet a burning dog.

@HitmanAgent47: I'm not an artist really. I don't have the talent for that, but I am looking for a career in design. I just started illustrating and found myself enjoying it. With no previous experience or training it's hard. I'll get there though.
