@scarabus: The backwards compatibility comes from being a thinclient.

Full disclosure: I interned for a gaming mouse distributor in the summer of 2012. If you feel that invalidates my opinions and suggestions, please feel free to ignore the rest of my post.

First thing's first. Never, ever, buy a mouse, gamer-branded or otherwise, until you have a chance to hold it in your hand. Unless you're like me, and just love collecting mice, this is the most important factor in mouse choice. Your mouse, be it as a gamer, or as a normal computer user, is quite likely the most used peripheral on your computer, next to your keyboard. You have to make sure it's comfortable to hold, for several hours. Beg borrow or steal if you have to, the price of gamer-branded mice these days is far too expensive to buy sight-unseen.

Second, you probably don't need a "gamer mouse". Namely, the fact that you're asking the Giant Bomb forums for their opinion. Now, I'm not telling you they're not better-engineered products. (Granted, in a few cases, they actually aren't.) What I'm saying is there aren't many people who will notice the difference on whether their mouse has angle-snapping, pixel-jitter, etc. tl;dr unless you plan on competing in tournaments regularly, an office-store brand mouse should probably work just fine.

Third, anyone who tells you to buy a specific brand/model of mouse to try should immediately be ignored, as they have no idea what they're saying. The choice of mouse is far too personal to leave it up to anyone else. I currently use a CM Storm Spawn, but I hardly ever suggest it, because I know that the Spawn fits me, and the way I hold a mouse, and the way I play, better than most mice on the market, but I'm one of the few people who hold a mouse in such a way that the Spawn benefits me.

Went to the DFW Bar Fights 5 tournament in Dallas yesterday. Went 3-2 overall, which I could not be more stoked about, since every other Bar Fights I've been to I went 0-2. And DFW_Jay was there to be awesome and record whatever matches he could, and caught two of mine.

Actually you know what? If you could replace my Steam ID with http://steamcommunity.com/id/Amp that'd be great, searching neither Amp nor nutloaf seems to turn up anything useful regarding finding me :(

@mubress: It's not a mod.

Go into "Graphical Settings" and turn "Stage Detail" to Low.

I decided that since AE PC is out, I'd bust out fraps and be an attention whore. Embedded my playlist, as is, in YouTube.

Apparently I also ran into JJOR64 in Ranked.

Funny thing is, this thread is beginning to look exactly like the typical "LOL BRINK IS SHIT" threads on /v/ right now.

The OP is even mysteriously using the same exact vocabulary and talking points that get brought up in the /v/ threads.

...nah I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

>inb4 "u mad?"
Ehhhhh, a little upset that Brink is getting all this negative attention when I'm loving it thus far, since it takes quite a few design cues from deathmatch-based FPS like Quake and UT like low weapon lethality meaning that there's an actual combat phase to the game, not just whoever pulls the trigger first wins with the fight being over after 0.0001 seconds. They also made weapons have uses beyond the damage they can dish out, you can do damage, you could stun, or rely on knockback. I think it's because that this weapon design is so different from established norms is why people like Jeff say "the guns aren't satisfying."

The grenades aren't used to do massive AOE damage and kill ~3 people, they're meant to be used for the stun they deal and by extension for protecting objectives that need to be hacked or (de)constructed.

The shotgun isn't supposed to deal huge damage up close, it's meant to throw the fucker across the room and tell him to "Get the fuck out of my face."

Believe me when I say that this game is closer to Quake than it is Call of Duty, when you add all the little things up. That's why I love it.

KING OF AVIATION, DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH ENGINES?
KING OF AVIATION, DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH ENGINES?
Ever since I wrapped my mind around aviation controls, and did a bit of customization, I found using planes more fun than helicopters.

That's actually an old version, I've now upgraded to 3x4 array of wings, with full engine loadout on the bottom ones.
It barely lifts off, but man, no faster way to travel if you're going in a straight line. I may tack on a lift-engine or two (using regular propellers instead of heli-blades) to get more off the ground.

Also, I've since forgotten the design, and never took screenshots (not that this would convey in shots anyway), but somehow awhile back I managed to design a plane that would take off just fine, but then quickly arc down into a nosedive. However, if immediately after takeoff, I reversed all engines, I would then go just fine, but I would be flying backward.

Well at some point you change so much it fundamentally fails to be a pokemon game anymore.

I personally think they hit the right formula of changes and design decisions to appeal to the young audience and the old standbys alike.
