1. Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Somehow, the first full-sized portable installment in the Kingdom Hearts series manages to outshine its console counterparts, creating one of the best games on the PSP, and my personal pick for Game of 2010.
2. Red Dead Redemption
This was a close one. If handheld games weren't allowed (and they are), it would absolutely have taken the #1 spot. We need more Westerns, and RDR is a shining example of why.
While not a marvel in a technical sense, NieR managed to do something most modern RPGs absolutely wish they could accomplish; it told a story that was new, unique, and worth telling.
4. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Three words. Portable. Co-Op. Stealth.
5. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Castlevania and 3D have never gotten along. Until now.
6. Alan Wake
While not exactly scary by any stretch of the word, Alan Wake was an entertaining experience through and through. Maybe next time they'll actually finish the open world.
7. Yakuza 3
The prodigal son of Japanese gangster action RPGs returns.
8. Super Meat Boy
Easily the best downloadable experience of the year, and one of the best overall games as well. Just be prepared to die. A lot.
9. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game
River City Ransom meets every other video game ever made. Enough said.
10. Resonance of Fate
Tri-Ace's oddball RPG, while a low performer on the sales charts, easily eclipses Square Enix's most recent console offering. Provided you're a Nolan North fan, that is.
