Thanks, guys! I've heard of some these books/articles, some of them I haven't. I'm gonna follow them up and look into them or RSS them. I wanna evolve my ideas of what video games are. Lookin' up Jonathan Blow is a good idea! I remember hearing GB interview him once, and he had some pretty awesome ideas; also, Braid is awesome!

I'm looking to explore the idea of video games as art/philosophy/experience. I'm basically just looking to expand on what video games are... I personally think the potential for video games is profound and that the possibilities of video games as art, or as some kind of profound narrative experience with the ability to communicate meaning, are not talked about.... or maybe it is!

That's what I'd like to throw out to you...

Please refer me to any books, articles, or whatever, that you think expand on these ideas.

The creation kit has not been released yet, thus no "official" steam mods yet. If you want to mod your game the old fashioned way w/o the steam integration and official tools you can google SKYRIM NEXUS.

My girlfriend, who has been playing the game more than I have, has started having some lag issues which, based on the many accounts I've been hearing, we can expect will get worse. Only after the Giantbomb GOTY comments about Skyrim, and my gf's lag issues, did I decide to find out what was going on and educate myself on all of these problems, visiting forums and websites, etc. I contacted my local EB Games(US Gamestop equivalent), and they told me they wouldn't be able to give me a refund, but suggested that I contact Bethesda themselves. That was to be my next step, hoping they would replace my PS3 version with a 360 or PC version. I haven't done this yet. Maybe I'll put it off in hopes that this patch will come out and fix our lag issues.

(My gf really hates the 360 controller, and prefers that I buy games for the PS3, this is the only reason I bought the PS3 version, FYI)

I'm a level-10(ish) silver league player. I play SCII regularly and, while I'm by no means an expert, I ain't no newb either. I'm growing tired of just going on the ladder, losing some matches and then winning some matches but not really moving up the ladder any. I have an empty friends list and was looking to get some GB people on there so I'm not always just going on the ladder. My girlfriend insists that I buy PS3 versions of games when possible because she can't stand the 360 controller. She'll never play the 360 because of the controller, she's very set in her ways, it kinda sucks, I know. I would prefer to be playing the 360 version if only because Bethesda DLC tends to go to the 360 first. I'm following all of these problems that the PS3 version is having and dread having them happen to me when I get into 40+ hours.

An option I have is to buy the game for the 360, effectively buying the same game twice. It seems to me such a waste of money to buy the 360 version so that she can have these issues and I don't have to. I can afford to buy it twice but I hate supporting Bethesda's shitty-ness. *ugh*...

I don't know if I should continue playing the game and hope that an effective patch is released, or if I should give Bethesda more money for their fuck-up. I have ethical problems paying a company more money for fucking-up.

This just in! SCEA confirmed that the game was not cancelled. Gamestop said they decided to remove it from pre-orders because there was no firm release date.
