After you read the article, or just infer from the title alone, what game mechanics do you hate the most that keep appearing in video games? I personally hate save points in games. Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, GTA, why not just let us save anywhere? I couldn't write a paragraph on that though, so it wasn't in the article.

I'm adding a second link cause the first one is kind of hard to see past all the keywords.

Unless that was sarcasm, I didn't think the article was bad at all. It's just his opinion on common bad game design.

@Artie:
I have two major peeves when it comes to bad game design: unskippable cutscenes and constant knockdown. Unskippable cutscenes (especially in a difficult game) are a pain, but constant knockdown is the worst. There's nothing worse then taking a missile to the face in The Force Unleashed, getting knocked down, and then standing up to just repeat the process.

That designed to be annoying paragraph, was the one that I have to agree 100% with. I am fine with a tough video game, but for no reason, it annoys the shit out of me. Fucking wretches, guitar hero boss battles, and beggars in assassins creed, are all pointless and just annoying for nothing more than making a game longer. Or developers just get joy out of knowing that they are annoying the fuck out of their audience.

Most of this list isn't talking about game mechanics at all, rather just game design flaws.

Can't say I agree with any of your points outside of forced tutorials. Those get horrendously annoying when replaying a game.

The examples you cited in that section weren't an issue to me, that's mostly why I said I didn't agree.

word gearhead .  The Star Wars force unleashed tutorial was fun because you started with all the powers ,yet then you're throw  into the shoes of Star Killer (protagonist) who is weak as shit and who is damaged by guys with stun rods.

agreed totally with this, besides the whole concentrating on multiplayer. I wish more games would do this. Because lets face it, if halo 3 was single player only, how many of us would have bought it? 

A lot of games like that (for example cod world at war) I buy for multiplayer first,  and single player second. So I enjoy the fact they concentrate on it. 

But the rest was solid.
