Eh, they'd need to get everyone back in a studio for me to resub. The Zoom stuff was acceptable when the pandemic started, but it's time to get things back to normal. The remote stuff has always felt off. Sadly, it seems pretty much everyone is spread out now so I doubt they'll ever consistently be in the same room again. Plus the non-gaming stuff from outside contributors I don't know isn't why I came to GB in the first place.

@fatalbanana: it's not defeatest. If you want to make these kind of firings your cause then go ahead, but just make sure your vitriol is consistent with all firings because you can't just choose to only do it when a female game dev gets fired for being an acerbic asshole to a customer and expect to be successful. I personally just dont care one way or the other at this point, but if you want to be the tip of the spear on this issue, them by all means have at it.

@lawgiver: I think Dan learned from the Dream Daddy debacle that there's no reasoning with the people around him about these kinds of things.

@fatalbanana: the precident extends beyond games. Look at the amount of talking heads or comedians that lose their jobs when they say something that offends a certain group of people. Online campaigns sprout up and go after sponsors and advertisers in an attempt to get people fired, and many of these groups are the same people that are now upset the same tactics were used to get a female game dev fired.

I don't like it, but this is the route our society has chosen to go in when words are said that upset a certain segment of people. Can't be upset about it now just because it's now working against someone you personally don't think is deserving of being fired.

@soggybobcat: I know and agree, which is why I'm not complaining about the arenanet firings, because we've all agreed that what you say has consequences, so being an unreasonable asshole to a customer on Twitter can get you fired. This is the precident that was set with the Orth and Olin firings, so why are GB and everyone upset about it now?

@sethmode: calling an something a "hot take" is a great way to marginalize a stance or opinion that you have no legitimate argument against, I agree, but you could have thrown in a "dog whistle" or "whataboutism" in there too for some next level stuff.

@boonsong: he defended someone's first amendment right to be a racist, and suggested labeling someone as a monster because they have ignorant views when they're almost a 100 years old might not be super productive. People that says racists things are stupid and repugnant, but they're still allowed to be racist.

@seeric: internet hate mobs got both Orth and Olin fired, so I guess we should have made a stand back then instead of complaining about it now

@jukeboxjosh: And I'm absolutely shocked that you think people also getting fired for twitter comments is wildly different than what happened at arenanet.
