the reasons i prefer console gaming to pc gaming

likely i linked you here to smother the age-old argument brought up whenever someone mentions the benefits of console gaming to PC gaming and vice-versa, here are my reasons.

first, a bit of history. being almost 25 i began gaming life with Nintendo consoles, then graduated to light PC gaming in the heyday of Starcraft and the like, then returned back to consoles with the release of the PS2 and Xbox.

i have found much more success with console gaming and what it all comes down to is money. i'm a college student who is frequently without a job for a variety of reasons, therefore my monetary supply is limited almost constantly. if i had money to burn, and it seems as if most people these days don't, i wouldn't be bothered with the PC vs Console decision because i'd just have both.

however, since this isn't the case, my highly logic/common-sense driven principles dictate that console gaming is EASILY the best bet.

for one, you're not constantly spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars every few MONTHS to refurbish your gaming rig. on top of that cost, you're spending the typically 60+ dollars for the games themselves. on top of THAT, for someone who is only slightly above-average in terms of dealing with technical issues (of which, during my PC gaming days, I dealt with many) you have to added hassel of having to figure out what is broke. by in large, you avoid all but one of these things with console gaming.

on a related note, gamepads (particularly the Xbox 360 gamepad, in my opinion) are a far superior way to handle MOST games. first-person shooters in particular seem to benefit from gamepads. PC game developers know this to be true, which is why you can use gamepads most of the time.

so where do PC's win out? real-time strategy games, obviously, will never see the light of day on consoles other than in watered down variants (Halo Wars, for what it was, was relatively enjoyable I thought). PC's typically win on the technical level, but again you pay the price and it's arguable whether this is a benefit. sure, a game can be incredible to look at but is it a good game? Crysis was decent but will it go down in history as one of the best FPS's? i doubt it. also, i look at a game like Gears of War 3 and that is a damn good-looking game, not even just for hardware this old.

console gaming is the place to be, people still complaining about it aren't looking where the real enemy lies: Facebook, and other social-medium games.
