My Game of the Year 2022

Honorable mention as always is DOTA 2 onto the lists!

Games I played before but beat/put more time into:

7..Spyro Enter the Dragonfly

Played as a kid went back to it, Pretty boring game its not the worst but its aint good, more fun to speed run

6.Simpsons Hit and Run

Played this one as a kid as well, this game continues to be over hyped and overrated. Yes, its awesome to see all the Simpsons content in the world, but its just a mediocre driving game with bad rubberbanding and tight time constraints.

5.Pokemon snap

Played as a kid at friends houses and beat before there. Enjoyed my time again with this

4. Cook, Serve, Delicious 2

Doubled my time in this game continues to be super fun wish gold medals weren’t 100% and you were given at least 1 or 2 mistakes to get

3.Castlevania

Always tried to beat and I finally did it. Once you know the tips and tricks getting to Dracula isn’t too bad, but ton of fun and a classic game

2. Stardew Valley

Double my time in this as well. Completed the rec center might go back to it again to build up a farm, but the farm work does get tedious at times.

1.Super Castlevania

Masterpiece of a game, pay it every Halloween

Games I haven’t played enough and how likely I am to return to them

6.Kingdoms of Amalor

I think if they made this game with another IP like LOTR this game would be a classic the combat is fun enough, but I don’t care about any of this lore and their crazy made up names.

5.Nioh

Will not go to this could really get past the actual first area

4.Shin Megami Sensi Strange Journey

Might go back to this enjoyed my time the difficulty is holding me back

3.Final Fantasy 7 remake

I would like to go back to this and I intend to, but not pulling my attention now.

2. Dragon Quest 11

Really want to play more of this one, just need time for it.

1.Warzone 2.0

Enjoyed the first one a lot reason its 1 over hades is that I play this with friends and excited to dive in a play more next year.

Games of the year

31. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon

This game is such a disappointment since I started the year playing Shovel Knight for the first time. My major complaint in this is that its not balanced for difficulty, and instead gives you the tools to change it and gives you extra lives, which is fine, but when the main game isn’t even balanced makes the game not fun because it feels like cheating.

30. Tiny Tina Assault on Dragons Keep

Was in the mood for more Borderlands and this is fine and gives you the perfect amount of time to enjoy one.

29. Super Mario Land

This game is very dated still fun to play, but the controls are really really bad for a Mario game

28. Rainbow Six N64

Started out as a joke to play a few years ago with my friend to try and beat, in which I played it byself this year and beat it. Its a lot of fun, but more fun Coop and a solid FPS on the N64

27. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

This is my second to least favorite of the Zelda games. It was some of the worst dungeons, quests, and controls out of all of them. It starts off good and then falls flat halfway through.

26. Tomba!

This game always was a mystery to me as a kid. I could never get far enough nor understand the game so I never knew much about it. That said I finally beat it and its pretty meh. Its just a bunch of fetch quest with some platforming. This game is expensive now and not worth the price tag.

25. Demon Turf

I wanted to like this game a lot in which I did enjoy it has fun platforming, however the controls could have been tighter and the combat isn’t great.

24. Pokemon Violet

What a disappointment literally all they had to do was keep the same catching and battle mechanics of Arceus and put them in this world they made, but they didn’t do it. Its a pretty empty open world game where I questioned if I was having fun as I beat it.

23. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

I did enjoy this one a lot more than Oracle of Ages. This is a solid game and a middle of the pack Zelda.

21. Banjo Kazooie Gruntys Revenge

I was in the mood for more Banjo and played this. Decent short little experience that isn’t too difficult.

21. Crash 4

Solid Platformer, I thought the levels were too long and once you realize its almost impossible to get everybox on the first run made it pointless to get them at all towards the end of the game

20. Castlevania Bloodlines

I really enjoy this Castlevanai one of the easier ones, only flaw is I found it baffling that if you die before at the boss and spawn in the boss room you cant get the full upgraded whip

19. Tony Hawk HD 1 +2

Classic games wish it was Tony Hawk 3, not a huge fan of these levels

18. Bayonetta

I really enjoyed Bayonetta super fun over the top game

17. Loop Hero

Really really liked Loop Hero only thing holding it back for me is the grinding for materials early on and nothing is super clear of what they do when you level up locations

16. Demons Crest

What a great game, solid platforming, good challenge

15. Banjo Kazooie

Played this as a kid at friends house finally got to 100% by myself still holds up, better than Mario 64

14. AI: The Nirvana Initiative

This is a better game than the first one, fun story and twist. This game also moves fast for a visual novel which I enjoy as well.

13. Bayonetta 2

Better than the first more Bayoneta

12. Shovel Knight Treasure Trove

First time playing the Shovel knight series really enjoyed them. I enjoyed playing the DLC campaigns more so than the original Shovel knight

11. Diablo 2

This game is loved by a lot of people I can see why. However for a game about loot, I rarely ever found anything above what I have. Also not telling you how to craft is a huge flaw. I also played as the Assassin which is probably the wrong choice on a first play through.

10. Resident evil 7

Awesome game, good scares makes you tense the whole time

9. Majoras Mask 3D

Once you get over the hurdle that the time mechanic isn’t much of a probably this game is way better than Ocarina. I think I just like linear Zelda games.

8.LInk to the Past

Instant classic one of my favorite Zelda games, but the Ice dungeon is one of the worst dungeons

7.KOTOR

This is still holds up and is mind blowing today. Had this as a kid never got past an hour of game play, was very happy to finally push through and beat it. Super fun, great writing, everyone should play it.

6.Psychonauts 2

This game would be much higher is the load times were super long what a bummer

5. Hades

Fantastic rogue like still enjoying my time with it wasn’t going to include it in this section but i played a decent amount of time and I even got to the final boss, or i think its the final boss

4. Overwatch 2

Was debating about putting this on the list or not since its the same game. However, 5v5 feels much better than 6v6. The shooting feels slightly better too. Just wish there was a progression system and items that you can get for free.

3.Tunic

Mind blowing game, every surprise in this keeps the game going and interesting. I didn’t have too much of a problem with the combat as everyone else. But the shortcuts in this game are always impressive.

2.Pokemon Legends Arceus

Hands down the best Pokemone game and one that would have blew my mind as a kid. Pokemon games need this catching mechanic. YOu need to be able to throw the pokeball at them with out battling. This game speeds up catch and battle which is the best addition at they can do, as well as focusing on catching pokemon rather than battling item since, they have had the same battle system from the start. I appreciate that they tried to change it up with the agile and strong style to once again speed up the game.

1. Marvel Snap

Great card game, quick andeasy to learn. Quick games and that it takes the stress out of deck building by having 12 cards, no repeats and no item cards.
