I did not know this, that's good news.  I think the use of blood and the Marilyn Manson really killed this game for me, then hearing the Baldur's Gate talk has got me back into it.  Like the OP i have a sensitive wife and stuff like that doesn't fly. "
There's no Marilyn Manson in the actual game, that was just a trailer. The game itself is all very Baldurs Gate/KOTOR/Neverwinter Nights in presentation, just with some blood splatters.

Just a question, though... why does it matter if your wife is too sensitive to like the game? She's not the one playing it. I'm not trying to sound like the misogynistic bro here, I'm genuinely asking: shouldn't you be allowed to play what you want to play, without getting your wife's consent? It's not like you're taking her to a movie that she's forced to watch with you. It's a video game that you yourself sit and play, and she can do something else.

Does she also not like you reading Hamlet around the house? There's a lot of gore in that, too.

The Dragon Age blood is very stylized and while it borders on "XTREME", it doesn't quite cross over into ridiculous. I think some people are acting a little too elitist when it comes to blood in video games. Just because there is an excess of gore doesn't mean that it's necessarily bad.

Now Fallout 3, I think, did gore very unstylized and ridiculous. Even without the bloody mess perk, sometimes shooting a mutant in the head with a pistol would result in limbs magically being blown off.

Frankly, I'm enjoying the stylized blood spray of Dragon Age. It carries a certain dark charm.

" Alchemist on Very Hard.  My minions and crowd spells make me into a walking wave of death.  I only wish that there was a critter counter to tell me how many of a particular demon are still left alive.  Screen clutter can make it difficult to tell in the middle of some of the battles. "
I'm playing alchemist on Very Hard, as well; although my character isn't so much about the waves of minions as he is a walking glass cannon, nuking everything by himself. Shit is fun as hell.
