@forkboy: I don't think consumer product boycotts are all that great though, action against one company or product of such, in modern societies which are arguably structurally positioned to engender these conditions in a significant proportion of businesses, is naive whack-a-mole.

Treating the causes of the problems such as a lack of worker power and stake in business would mean less problems occuring in the first place.

If the character is level one or two, even if you get the cost reduction upgrade upgrades, those characters may well represent up to 9000 gold in upgrades later on in the game the number of short apprentice missions are scarce and it's much easier to take on a medium apprenice mission or any warrens mission with at least everyone at level 1 especially given how bad vestals are at level 0..

@excast: Why should the onus on improving the discussion be on the women who have been driven to anger and not those who drove them there.

Please dont be obtuse when it comes to the gendered reactions to anger that exist within western society.

@excast: The problem is that at a certain point the terrible elements have made discourse and dilectic a vitual immposibility.

@annora: It's bloody terrible when people take statements of anger, academic in jokes, statements meant to provoke thought and spin them into condemnation of a person and a cause. Theres a pretty bloody huge difference between say a history of misogynistic expression through social media and someone getting exhasperated and saying one slightly disagreeable thing.

Never mind the fact that women are held to a different bullshit standard than men and have to combat accusations of hysteria anytime they express any zeal at all.

@lelcar: Harassment is wrong this really doesn't need to be said. However one of the problems with what Jeff wrote is that he arguably leaves it somewhat open as to what his stance is on the common view of the internet being the internet

The problem with the view of it's the interent being the internet is the problem of all appeals to entropy, just because we eventually die and what we build crumbles corruption enters all systems at some point doesn't mean we don't do these things and it follows that we should try to find a way to curb this behaivour even if the task seems too great.

@wolfgame: Which is to ignore that half the issue is that interent is a fundamentally hostile place to women and that even if the anti gamer gate side has an equal proportion of extremists and people issuing death threats on it's side, someithing which I highly doubt, it would still exist within a wider context in which women are constantly recieving threatening mesages on the internet.

I'm not minimising threatening messages and their effects on either side but ignoring quantity and proportion seems wilfully obtuse.
