The rumors/speculation around a PS5 that has a separate disc drive could potentially mean a slim PS5, but Microsoft has so much identity in the design of the Xbox Series X, i doubt there will ever be a slim or smaller version of it, plus they have the Series S.

I doubt either has an upgraded "Pro" console, the existence of those last time around were largely due to alot of the hesitation in the market at the start of the Ps4/Xbox One generation.

The video game marketing landscape is very different now than it was 5 years ago, and even more so 10 years ago. There are less games (that would be at an e3), less companies and longer dev times. At the start of the bombcast, the e3 time frame was games shown at e3 were released 6-18 months later. Now games are shown way in advance to recruit talent, shown at every major event and then eventually come out.

Maybe in a couple years there will be a reason to have an e3, and maybe taking some time off could be helpful and cool but it would take an industry change for that to happen.

As the others said, a lot of "bad" AAA games are fine, but by standards just disappointing/full of issues that should exist. But it turns out that an "Unlimited" budget and time can do wonders for games.

I have played all of them besides 3 and I really like 4, it's definetly nostalgia for me but I also think its a good game.

The first one is very much a first attempt but not a bad game, 2 feels similar to 1 but a little more polished. Meanwhile both 5 and 6 are good games that maybe have a bit too much going on.

They are all good and there really isnt a bad game to start with, just know that they each improve on each other and thus going backwards might be a tad difficult.

Also generally it doesnt matter but for 3, go Blue over White. In japan they released White and then about 6 months later released Black (which is blue in NA). It was rebalanced and had some bug fixes. When MMBN3 released in NA they released both at the same time. If you are a pokemon fan it would be like releasing Ruby and Emerald at the same time. (Maybe not that extreme but similar concept).

@ben_h: Thats how this started for me. I started from the beginning a few months ago as background noise while working and such. I had just just got to the start of 2012 and the episode wouldnt load. I resubbed on pocketcasts and no dice, I used the free RSS feed from the site same issue, and the premium feed for the early years is inconsistent. I do know that spotify has the episodes though.

So I noticed this and have done some initial work on it. I originally noticed this when I got to a podcast from the beginning of 2012 and it just didn't work. I tried using an RSS feed downloader to download the podcast for personal archival and noticed that about half of the podcasts between 2008 and 2016 didn't download. Below is a half in progress list so the formatting is a bit odd but here is a list of the podcasts that dont download from the RSS. For the record I have only gone through the 2008 and 2009 so I cant speak to which episodes from later can or cannot be downloadable. Hope this helps

I played bout 50 hours of the first game and stopped playing it becuase of how little fun I was having with it. I was the person who never cared that the characters never interacted, I like the idea that this world is full of stories that don't weirdly connect at some point (I know it kinda does but whatever), but the stories werent good enough to be interesting. The first game was repetitive to the point of annoyance and for me personally I never felt like I was doing enough damage.

Octopath 2 is very similar to the first game but I really feel like it does everything better. The characters and stories are much more interesting, the path actions are integrated into the gameplay better and I feel like the chapters were less repetitive. They no longer followed the Enter Town, talk to person, go to dungeon, fight boss format.

Overall it is a better game, I finished it this week and loved every minute of it, but I think if you were upset about the level of connectedness between characters this game doesnt really do much to fix that.

I think on top of all that has been discussed in this thread is that this is a very impressive looking game from a studio with no history. As everyone has said, not every dev is going to agree with everyone politically speaking but at the same time I also don't have to buy into their products.

I think the real test will be waiting for the game to come out, but this game straight from the beginning never really passed the smell test, and maybe I will be wrong but I think it's worth talking about.

If anyone can turn e3 around its Reedpop, but also IAm8Bit also seemed promising until they pulled out abruptly.

That being said, Sony, EA, Ubisoft and Nintendo haven't really done anything this year and having an E3 next year probably won't change that seeing as neither EA nor Sony were going to be at e3 2020. There are less games and less reasons to hold a big flashy show every year.

Like most years, I really never engage with any of the gimmicks, but for me, Steam is also just a launcher and storefront, I don't really engage with any of the other features, I think I only have like 2 peole on my friend list. Most of the recent sales I don't even browse, I put everything I would want into my wishlist so I can keep track of them during sales.
