I imagine that a group of friends would have a great time with that dick game. Then I imagine one of those friends bringing someone new to game-night, saying "You gotta play this game, it's hilarious!" I imagine this new person barely knowing anyone else there to begin with, suddenly they're playing this thing, people are shouting "get out of me!", they're trying to figure out how to even control it, and everyone else is going for the new person because it's easy points. I can't imagine that would be a very comfortable thing.

Damn! They were so close to not mentioning weed when Colorado came up. Maybe next time. If you other states don't legalize it soon, Colorado and weed may be forever be linked together -_-

I mean this with all due respect, but I am beginning to think that the beastcast is no longer for me... I mean I love Alex and Vinny, but the tone of this podcast has just gotten annoying to listen too. It just seems to always get too political and other similar things[even when I agree with them, politics is the last thing I want to hear out of this website]. It just isn't fun most of the time anymore :(

That is fine, not everything has to be for me on this website, just disappointing. I may just take a break and come back later :)

Think I feel the same way. It's interesting, and they always make great insightful points, but it's overwhelmingly negative and just kind of depresses me. Everything after the Overwatch discussion was such a bummer, and I end up just feeling worse about stuff in general after listening. Even a harmless discussion about graphic card specs somehow leads into mentioning suicide.

The division isn't completely about you being an awesome murder junkie, but it's close. I think you have to give them some credit for what happens with the story line about the "first wave" division agents. A couple moments stood out to me:

You see one of the echoes of a division agent holding up people at gunpoint and saying something like "I could shoot you right now, I have the authority to do that." That was unsettling to me, because of similarities to recent events in America and because you are ostensibly in the same position as this person. It could just as easily be you saying that (and you might as well be for how some things play out in the game).

After a mission the guy with the heavy New York accent reacts to the first wave agents and basically tells you to your face that he's disgusted with you and your "unlimited authority" to do whatever you want. There's nothing about that scene that makes you feel awesome, and you rarely see this sort of thing in video games.

Were those scenes not-so-perfectly done, and was there more they could've done to delve into the player's moral ambiguity? Definitely. But for what's mostly a mindless, for-the-masses loot game, I do think it's neat that they tried to address it at all.

The whining and over analyzing the lore and logic of the Division has gotten really dumb guys.

I've been wondering what it is about their opinions on games that seems so foreign to me, but this episode Vinny put it succinctly when he said something like "I come for the narrative, stay for the gameplay." That's just not what I come to games for at all; narrative is one of the last things I care about.

Nearly all game narratives seem so dumb and poorly paced that it's just not something I ever expect from a game. The only time I've had it work for me is in smaller indie games where the narrative is the primary focus of the game, and the Division has so much other stuff going on that there's no way the story was going to be anything note-worthy, and that's fine.

So for me, the Division has been fantastic. I'm constantly starved for online co-op games to play with people. Halo, Saint's Row, Gears of War and Destiny have been the only recent games that really fully integrate co-op into the entire game while still being fun to play, and I'm so happy that I can add the Division to that list. So hearing complaints about why collectible laptops are still powered in the middle of the street seems so petty compared to the great, unique stuff that the Division is doing.

I guess I see your side of that , but a lot of people feel like the actions they are doing (gameplay) have to make sense in an overall scheme (I being one of them).

Yeah, maybe I'm downplaying narrative too much. Especially when it's connected to gameplay, it has some amount of importance so you aren't doing baking minigames in your gritty FPS. But I guess my tolerance for "dissonance" with that sort of thing is a lot higher if the gameplay makes up for it.

Honestly I think starting fresh is the best way they can show off an mmo. They got deep enough in to show the quest system and a hint at the sort of grinding you'd have to be doing, and it looks crazy boring and clunky. They did the same thing for their Tera quicklook, and the combat and moment-to-moment questing actually looked pretty good. Good enough for me to try it and have fun for a month or so.

Shame they never discovered the ability to glue stuff together. I'm curious how it works.

Yeah I was wondering if it was possible to do that. It'd make the metal factory level a lot more crazy if you can stick any object you want to the moving blocks.

How precisely they matched orbits was completely unnecessary, but seeing the two ships stationary next to each other is really awesome
