Am I the only one who thought the whole Dong Song bit was pretty racist?
Nope. Laughing at Asian names is juvenile as fuck. It's like a punchline in a Michael Bay movie.
I agree, but at the same time they didn't choose the name. It's what the game chose for them. So I think a part of the absurdity is the fact that that is possible. I'm not sure Dan sees it that way but nor do I think Dan has a shred of malicious racism in him - he's just immature.
Giant Bomb has never been about high level, or sometimes even, competent, play, but Dan... Oh Dan. Dan's the equivalent of a tactical genius that graduated West Point at the top of his class - hence his ability to understand the meta game. But for every point of tactical prowess he shows while looking at the big picture his self-preservation instincts, and boneheaded ground level strategies will probably be the death of the X-Com project.
07 Rest in Peace Vincenzo and Navarro, you did your best, but no one could save you from Commander Ryckert.
I suppose the fun thing here is that canonically, X-Com loses the war which leads into X-Com 2 - should they choose to go that route. With how this is going, I sincerely hope they do. This train wreck needs to run on a large track.
