Thanks a lot, guys. That means a lot.

I'd been pretty excited in the past week or so to play a show over the air, but the news on Monday hit hard. It was difficult to think of anything but that. Two out of the three of us in the band are active Giant Bombers, and it was definitely on our minds. We didn't have much time between getting out of work and packing up all of gear, but with the little time we did have, my bandmates and I decided to throw together a short tribute song to Ryan in place of one of our planned songs. It's far from polished being that it was so short notice and I just had to figure out how the theme song went by hearing it in my head, but here it is flaws and all. I miss that duder, and playing this was definitely cathartic. RIP, Mr. Davis.

@herpderp: I'm not really sure. This was part of Jimmy Fallon's "Video Game Week," so I don't think this was the only game and he's had video games on the show before, so it's probably not just a Ubisoft thing.

You'll do fine. I jumped in on racing my first day, just to do it. You'll learn quickly that your main concern, at least in starting out, will be dodging other drivers. In the Rookie class, there are a TON of people crashing and/or losing control during the races. It can get pretty frustrating for someone who feels pretty comfortable with the track. I've already been around Summit Point countless times in that Mazda, and my best time is 1:29.101. I think a wheel might improve that (I'm going to borrow one at some point soon), but I also don't consider myself that great at racing games. Granted, driving clean laps by myself consecutively isn't an issue at this point, and that's a victory in and of itself -- at least judging by the way some of the other rookies are driving. If you want to get some easy points, I'd recommend doing some time trials and/or qualifiers.

Cool to see your blog here. I checked the forums after caving and signing up for a 3-month iRacing trial (got a good promotion that came with a couple extra cars and it's only $11.99 for the three months). I went to the Indy 500 this past Sunday with family and a friend of mine who does iRacing and is a fellow Giant Bomber. I don't have a wheel right now, so I'll be using my PS3 controller emulated as a 360 controller. I'm a little worried about that, but we'll see how it goes.

Very sad : / This was the first game soundtrack I went and acquired on my own, aside from FFVII when I was a kid. He was a very talented composer.

@assinass: Yeah, Warframe looks pretty neat (I don't have the beta myself, I actually just found out about it from the article), but I'd definitely love to see the whole MGS Ninja character meets Splinter Cell gameplay meets Dead Space environment.
